I’m not supporting Newt, but let’s not distort what he said. He isn’t exactly backing obamacare. Not even close.

I’m going to support your statement on Mr. Gingrich. He has made some bad calls in his home life, but he has been very powerful in his political life. He is a very smart man, and I want to see the debates. Don’t let everything here detract you.

Did you read the article?

He refused to criticize RomneyCare, and makes it clear he supports a federal government solution to healthcare coverage. The details vary, but what he's describing would be similar to Obamacare.

Yes it is rather close, in accepting the unconstitutional premise of the individual mandate. That represents a faulty view of individual rights under the Constitution that we cannot reward by election to the WH. Newt just ended his candidacy. IMHO.

No. But he's backing one of the most egregiously unconstitutional aspects of it.

And the odd thing is, I don't recall his backing this approach back in 1992-94.

It's as if he has independently decided to "take the middle ground" and "try to make government work" -- when none of his constituents want it to "work" in this fashion.

From the time of his announcement, it only took Newt -- what, 72 hours? -- to prove he was unqualified.

Newt may not be backing “obamacare”but he’s definitely in favor of forcing everyone to buy insurance or post a bond, and for the govt(taxpayers)to subsidize the whole mess.

If Newt backs an individual mandate, but not Obamacare as a whole, then that’s bad enough. The ridiculously non-conservative concept is a central pillar of Obamacare...

With the polls showing 57% or more opposed to Obamacare, no GOP candidate can expect to play around the edges of this issue and survive. Obama is, after all, already working that side of the street. Oh, the party elites want that revenue stream just as badly as the Democrats do, but it's pure poison in the primary elections. As it should be.

If the individual mandate is struck down by the Supreme Court doesn’t that say Newt is off the rails

Here’s the problem; Newt also supports Comprehensive Immigration Reform, and he also buys into AGW (Remember his couch sitting with Nancy Pelosi?). The ramifications of this bogus science could potentially mean Cap & Trade for our country. This will spell bankruptcy for our nation. Sorry, but any person who buys into this bogus science, cannot be trusted.

In my opinion, the people here who are critical of Newt have good reason to be. The man is a RINO and CANNOT be trusted! 1994 was 1994. He is not the same man, and we are not the same country anymore.

In my mind, RINOs are more dangerous to this country than the Democrat/Socialist Party. At least we know where the Democrats stand on the issues. RINOs...you just never know.

You stated” I’m not supporting Newt, but let’s not distort what he said. He isn’t exactly backing obamacare. Not even close.”

I watched & listened with my own ears & he didn’t just disagree with Paul Ryan’s plan..he called it “right wing social engineering”.
He did actually state “I believe all of us — and this is going to be a big debate — I believe all of us have a responsibility to help pay for health care,” I didn’t distort his words, he believes in a MANDATE.
His RINO colors came shining through!!
