Two days after U.S. Navy Seals Team 6 made headlines around the world for the dramatic raid that killed terror mastermind Osama Bin Laden, the Walt Disney Company trademarked their name, reports FishbowlNY.

This doesn't effect how the Navy uses the moniker for military purposes, but it does mean we may soon be seeing 'Seal Team 6' branded products and entertainment.

According to records viewable online with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Disney filed the Trademark paperwork on May 3, 2011 for 'Seal Team 6'.

Last Friday on the John Batchelor show a NY Times movie reviewer was on absolutely raving about Obama and how recent events are just like the classic movie The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. So I bet this is in the works. :)

America's network and cable TV pundits and America's newspaper editors and publishers have joined with President Obama and Hollywood to say..

Move over James Stewart and John Wayne! Heeeere's Obama and The Man Who Shot bin Laden. A remake of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance starring America's greatest hero ever! President Barack Hussein Obama!

Network / newspaper critics say: "Oh, Gracious God, Thank You So Much! It’s such a blessing to be able to let America see you as you really are! Mr. President, thank you for taking time out of your day! Oh, gracious God, thank you so much!"

Our tax dollars did not create “Seal Team 6”. It created elite fighting forces second to none throughout our military branches. The name is meaningless, it’s the men who put their lives on the line who give it meaning. Our boys are most likely out in the field again doing their job as I write this. Because of them we don’t have to sleep with one eye open. God bless them all.

I would think only a disney stockholder would want to grant disney an exclusive right to profit from Seal team 6 cartoons, Seal team 6 action figures, Seal team 6 day at disneyworld , and maybe even a Seal team 6 movie complete with gay love interest. All of these would of course feature ubama as their esteemed leader.

My thoughts are that if the taxpayers paid for training, equipping, and supporting that elite fighting force, we should protect their effectiveness. To me that means not not encouraging the publicizing their activities such as we would do by granting one company the exclusive right to cheesy merchandising profits.

Every embassy at which I served (where there was a Marine Security Detachment) sold the shirts to every one who came up with the $25 or $30. I was not a member of the Marine Detachment but I WAS a member of the embassy’s staff. If the Marines didn’t want us to wear their shirts, why would they sell them? I occasionally ran with the Detachment in Havana, running down 5th Ave with them, wearing the shirt. I feel the same way you about those who steal valor. My daughter bought a USMC Security Guard polo shirt back from Kabul after her last deployment.
