Newt Gingrichs appearance on Meet the Press today could leave some wondering which partys nomination he is running for. The former speaker had some harsh words for Paul Ryans (and by extension, nearly every House Republicans) plan to reform Medicare, calling it radical.
I dont think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering, he said when asked about Ryans plan to transition to a premium support model for Medicare. I dont think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate.
As far as an alternative, Gingrich trotted out the same appeal employed by Obama/Reid/Pelosi for a national conversation on how to improve Medicare, and promised to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse, etc.

So, all the money donated for his campaign goes to him when it is over, right? Is this just a way to make a few hundred thousand bucks?
Big, BIG mistake if Newt had any REAL hope of winning the nomination. I was happy to see him enter the race just because he’d be able to introduce ideas to the debate that might otherwise be neglected but if this is the best he can do I wish he’d just keep his yap shut!
I had doubts before about you Newt but now only a few days out from your Presidential announcement and I now have no doubts. You have screwed up big time.
Gingrich - Pelosi 2012
LOL
We’ve got a libertarian wing of the Republican Party. Now, with Newt Gingrich and John Ensign, and Mitch Daniel’s on again/off again wife, we have a libertine wing of the Republican Party. I’m sure the MSM will have great fun.
Bye Newt.
Nuff said.
Newt is nothing but a cartoon character attention whore.
Sheesh.
I think he is also in the global warming camp. Newt, turn out the lights at your campaign headquarters, you are not even going to be the VP candidate IMO. I think hanging around with the likes of pelousy has rotted his brain.
With this opening salvo I don't believe Newt is serious about running. I think he is just selling books.
this helps democrats retake house in 2012
never mind help obama....
newt is the best thing ever for the Democrats
Newt knows he doesn’t have a prayer. It’s about milking the federal matching funds program for all it’s worth for him and his buddies, and raising the value of his speaking fees and TV appearances after he loses the nomination.
So we just need more of the same in DC, then, Newt?
You are confirming every doubt I had about you in record time. Go away. You are truly a pathetic pandering horse's patoot.
“free society”
Maybe the “Newt” should look up the definition of “free society”
Maybe he’s looking for a “grant” from Soros.
