Los Angeles, CA --- May 13, 2011 ... The Rochelle and Richard Maize Foundation has announced that they will be providing free financial aid to over 60-year-olds who are unemployed, US citizens, veterans, have no source of income and are seeking to start a new business. The financial aid will cover part of the legal and Internet marketing costs. "One of the hardest hit groups of people with the least potential of securing work even if and when the US economy improves are the 60 year-old plus citizens," said Richard Maize. "As such, I have decided to provide free financial assistance to some of those who are over 60-years-old, unemployed, US citizens, veterans, have no source of income but are ready to get a business off the ground." Richard Maize is the director of the Rochelle and Richard Maize Foundation. The Richard Maize Foundation is a philanthropic organization that supports and contributes volunteer and financial resources to causes locally in the community and worldwide by supporting meaningful programs focusing on art, culture, family services and health care that work to help people live more fulfilling lives. "We will select those who are the neediest and most motivated to establish a realistic business which is most suitable for them and the market that they will be trying to reach," says Richard Maize. "The monies will be large enough to provide for some legal and Internet marketing to get the business off the ground." To apply for financial assistance from the Rochelle and Richard Maize Foundation, you must provide proof of US citizenship, proof of unemployment, proof of having served in uniform in the armed forces or police, provide a resume, business references and a business plan. Those who qualify for this free aid will be notified by the Richard Maize Foundation.

Sounds like a good thing... but are they leftists, like the Tides Foundation? It would pay conservative seniors to know before they accept funding, and the oversight that goes with it.

Richard Maize makes it very clear that only US veterans or former police who are seeking monies to start a business will qualify. Maize believes in helping those who will help themselves.

Link source for below: http://www.richardsilverstein.com/tikun_olam/tag/convicted-mortgage-broker/

Those of us here in the States have heard scores of stories in the past few months about greedy mortgage brokers and lenders who contributed to the country’s economic meltdown by inflating the value of properties and convincing lenders to lend them money based on the fraudulent valuations. This is precisely what Maize did in his heyday, and Lehman Bros., one of the victims of the meltdown, was his willing (though perhaps unwitting) partner in this according to an FBI press release that announced his plea bargain. In it, he confessed to five felony counts in order to avoid a possible 98-year prison sentence:

…In United States District Court in Los Angeles, federal prosecutors filed criminal charges against Richard A. Maize, 53, of Beverly Hills. Maize, a co-founder of Americorp Funding, a mortgage banking company with offices in West Los Angeles and Pasadena, was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and loan fraud, three counts of bank fraud and one count of making a false statement on a federal tax return.

In a plea agreement also filed today, Maize agreed to plead guilty to the five felony counts…

Maize booked more than $245-million in mortgages for his employer in 2002 alone. The FBI blames him for at least $18-million in fraud and he agreed to pay $2.75-million in restitution.

It’s certainly no accident that Maize established his family foundation just after his legal troubles arose. This is a common practice with the world’s n’er-do-wells. They seek to compensate for the evils they do by spreading a few philanthropic dollars to take the sting out of their infamy. Maize apparently did this on the very cheap. The first year his charity operated it had a mere $22,500 in assets. Hardly a serious gesture from a confessed felon seeking to whiten his reputation.

This is precisely what Maize did in his heyday

Lonevoice, or whatever your name is - what you are writing here amounts to libel and slander and you will be reported to Freerepublic.

Richard Maize was never convicted of any crime or felony. In fact, his plea has been changed to that of innocent as there is now evidence that Maize was also victimized.

Lastly, Richard Maize has given thousands of dollars out of his own pocket to help the homeless, the sick and US war Vets.

What have you done?

Almost forgot!

Lonevoice is truly a lone voice here as he quotes Richard Silverstein who supports Islamic Jihad and terrorism against the US, Israel and the West.

Interesting how even the Iranians and Syrians can penetrate FreeRepublic .........

You might want to check your legal definition of libel and/or slander if you think copying and pasting someone else's words with attribution to the source constitutes it. Bullying and threatening to "report" someone to freerepublic doesn't give me much confidence in your counter-argument. As for accusing longtime FReepers of being Iranians and Syrians, that only makes you look like a total goofball. Maybe I should "report" you. < /sarc>

As for whether or not Maize pled guilty to five felonies, the FBI says he did. http://losangeles.fbi.gov/dojpressrel/pressrel07/la052507usa.htm

If you have a source that he was able to reverse his guilty plea and avoid sentencing, post it. I'm not saying he did or didn't, but google isn't finding it, and you seem much more personally invested in this than I am.

Almost forgot!

Publicly available case law proves that Richard Maize, in fact, was convicted of these felonies, contrary to your assertion.

"For the restitution ordered in this judgment, the defendant shall be held jointly and severally liable with his convicted co-participants, to the extent and for the amount that each is determined liable, as Lester Scott Robinson, Kyle Grasso, and Lila Rizk (in Docket No. 07-00755); Charles Fitzgerald (in Docket No. 06-00977(A)), Mark Abrams (in Docket No. 06-00044), Richard Maize (in Docket No. 07-00455), Nicole LaViolette (in Docket No. 05-01232), and Timothy Holland (in Docket No. 06-00106)."

Thanks to freeper LomanBill for his correction to you on this contention, found on previous threads where you have also accused him of supporting Islamic Jihad for disagreeing with you about this same Richard Maize fellow you keep posting about.

Those who victimized Richard Maize were convicted. Maize has not been convicted of any crime. If you have a problem reading and understanding English, please have a translator help you.

You quoted Richard Silverstein, a supporter of terrorism against Israel and the US. I don't quite understand how FreeRepublic allows this libel and incitement on this Website.

Your insulting, condescending attitude really does you (and, by extension, Richard Maize) no favors. Just sayin'.

You do understand that when a defendant enters a guilty plea, that means they are convicted of the charge, right (USAM 9-16.015)? When Maize pleaded guilty to five felonies, he was convicted of five felonies (USAM 9-16.040). You can argue that the first website I quoted provided false information about Maize’s pleas and convictions, but are you really suggesting that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is lying too? Did you read the FBI link I posted in #11? The part where it says:

"This afternoon in United States District Court in Los Angeles, federal prosecutors filed criminal charges against Richard A.

In a plea agreement also filed today, Maize agreed to plead guilty to the five felony counts and to cooperate in the government's ongoing probe of the scheme"

Again, here’s the link to the document on the FBI’s own website: http://losangeles.fbi.gov/dojpressrel/pressrel07/la052507usa.htm. If you think the FBI is guilty of libel and slander, take it up with them.

Maize’s sentencing was originally scheduled for June of 2010. That was subsequently postponed to November of 2010, and, it appears again to have been postponed. Hardly surprising given that he was providing evidence against one of his co-conspirators whose sentencing wasn't completed until September of 2010. The fact that Maize has not yet been sentenced has absolutely no relevance to the FACT that he is convicted of five felonies.

Again, as I asked you in post #11, if you have one single bit of substantiation that Maize appealed his convictions, or that an appeal was heard, or that a federal appeals court overturned any of the five convictions, post it. That would be so much easier (if it were so) than continuing to accuse members of this forum of being anti-American murdering terrorists, which is exactly what you’re doing when you accuse them of being Islamic Jihadists (as you have done on multiple occasions).

I will agree with you on one thing. I’m sometimes surprised by what is allowed on FR as well. For instance, when an admitted Obama voter uses FR as part of a search engine optimization campaign to burnish the reputation of a convicted felon who donated to the presidential campaigns of Al Gore, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton, it does surprise me.

Was Maize sentenced? Don't think so. So he was not convicted.

I have. You haven’t. That much is obvious. The FBI says he was convicted. Go argue with them.
