Getting to Yes for Mitch and Cheri Daniels

INDIANAPOLIS -- When the Indiana Republican Party found itself in a bind this spring, unable to lock down a high-profile keynote speaker for its big annual fundraising dinner, it was Gov. Mitch Daniels himself who came up with the solution: He'd get his wife, Cheri, to do it.

It was a bold move, considering that she had never given a high-profile speech before and generally has been reluctant to step onto the political stage. At the same time, her husband has been pondering a 2012 presidential bid (pondering it for the better part of 18 months, in fact) and the potential candidate himself has hinted that Cheri's the one person who could stop him -- because she's been described as uncomfortable about the intrusion such a campaign would have on their lives.

What a joke.

She isn’t even going to blink before saying “Uhm, NO!”.

If he doesn’t know the answer he really shouldn’t be posing the question.

There is something about Daniels that reminds me of Dan Quayle. Just find the guy boring and don’t think he is the right choice for the GOP ticket. Condi would be better off running for the top spot herself. She b-slapped looney larry into silence. And did so with poise and class. Maybe she could give some lessons to Michelle Obama on how to be lady?

Palin wouldn’t want her.

I’d at least look at this ticket. Not holding out too much hope but Daniels has done some good things in his state and VP is a worthless position anyway.

I wonder if Palin runs if McCain will support her?

You jest!

Seriously, hows about a Cain/Palin ticket?

Team Bush Candidate has been picked.

Mitch Daniels would be a solid nominee, but see tagline for who we really need.

Rice has never had political ambitions, so I don’t buy it.

NOT VOTING FOR EITHER! I am a staunch CONSERVATIVE, Constitutionalist! NO RINO’s. I’ll see a marxist prick re-elected before I go down in flames with some GOP POS!

Oh please...

If they do, get them both a pair of loud checked pants, a couple of sets of golfs club's and one of those 20 ft long 2 door late 70's Lincoln's with the Landau Roof. It will be like a scene out of "Caddy Shack", all we need is Ron Paul to brush up on his Rodney Dangerfied jokes and Run as an "Indy" to bust their chops @ the debate....

The only people that would vote for that ticket are the Country Club Republicans.

I am not interested in any “compassionate conservative” bullsqueeze retreads. But in all seriousness Mitch, do keep trying. I look forward to you (during the debates) expounding on the positives of raising taxes.

Wow, I’ve been harsh on Daniels so far but seriously? Where are you pulling that info from?

I like Cain. I wish West would run.

Yes, give a REAL black man a chance to correct the problems caused by the faux black man! Kind of a "do over".

I believe Sarah or Michelle would be good if not great, and I want to see and hear more of Cain and West. But please, NO MORE RINOS!

While two Bush-era candidates would be many times better than the Marxist trash currently working on his golf game, this is not what this country needs right now. We need some fresh blood and ideas of the conservative kind, and an end to the Bush era.

I still have not read the LONG article to see why DRUDGE said he could pick Condi.

You really shouldn't pay attention to Drudge's titles these days, he's ran a helluva lot of misleading titles lately, some of which had nothing to do with the article he linked to. I don't know why either.

Unfortunately, we’ll all go down in flames if Obama gets reelected. Intellectually, I understand the argument that a RINO is worse than Obama, but ultimately it’s incorrect. They both lead to global government, but RINOs might delay it until after I’m dead. Also, RINOs tend to let you keep more of your money.

What are they calling the "compassionate conservative" crap this time around? I'm sure they have a really fancy name that disguises the intent.

One will not find purity in politics so I guess the best bet is to go with the candidate who is less compromised. Heck, even some big government Utopians are disappointed in Obama and looked what he has accomplished for the "bad guys".

I would be ecstatic (For my children's future and their kids) if one of the good guys acted with the same cunningness and fire as Obama has(Of course its a lot easier with a media machine behind his back). Most Republicans just want to be loved, not fiscally sound.
