It's not just the Labour Party – the Left is in meltdown all over Europe
The Telegraph ^ | 5/10/2011

...The same picture emerges wherever you look. In the European election in June, 2009, the Left took a hammering. In Germany, the Social Democrats polled just 20 per cent of the vote, their worst result since the Second World War. In France, the Socialist Party only mustered 16.5 per cent, its lowest share of the vote in a European election since 1994. In Italy, the Democrats polled 26.1 per cent, seven percentage points less than they received at the last Italian election. As David Miliband pointed out in a recent lecture: “Left parties are losing elections more comprehensively than ever before. They are fragmenting at just the time the Right is uniting. I don’t believe this is some kind of accident.”

...What’s going on?

The obvious answer is immigration. The educated liberal elites who control most Left-wing parties are pro-immigration. Not only do they believe in its economic benefits, they believe in the virtue of diversity as an end itself. The traditional European working classes, by contrast, are suspicious of immigrants and worry about them taking their jobs or – worse – taking money out of a welfare pot they haven’t contributed to. These tensions were containable when the majority of immigrants were from the developed world, but have been brought into sharp relief with the increase in immigration from the Middle East, Africa and Latin America – asylum seekers as opposed to economic migrants. In Sweden, for instance, the proportion of immigrants from less developed countries increased from 13 per cent to 36 per cent between 1980 and 2000. Of the one million immigrants who’ve entered Sweden since 1990, three quarters of them aren’t in full-time employment. These are the welfare free-riders that the Right-wing Sweden Democrats drew attention to in their 2010 election campaign

Thank God. But, it may be too late unless they start expelling the Muslims.

There’s hardly any difference between these “right wing” parties and the left wing ones. Did Merkel, Cameron or Sarozky do anything to stop muslim immigration into their countries?

That may be the case, but Europe is moving in the right direction.

This was written by a left-winger, bemoaning the defeat of left-wing politics. At the end of his article, he begs the world (certainly not God) for an intellectual colossus, one who can properly articulate the left-wing message. The problem as he sees it, is that the message is simply being lost, because the messenger is inadequate to the task. It never seems to occur to him that maybe, just maybe, the problem is the actual left-wing policies. Utter stupidity.

Weary taxpayers realize now that electing leftist parties means more expensive utopian social programs that do nothing except bankrupt the country.

The message isn’t being lost at all - on the contrary, voters are willingly running from it in horror!

The ‘intellectual colossus’ is currently all tied up trying to formulate a way to sell global warming, carbon taxes and higher energy prices.

It's never too late. If we can't expel them there are always other, more permanent, ways to deal with them.

The european “right wing” is still left of our left wing. The only reason they are called right wing is because they think they are xenophobic which is falsely attributed to right wing. There is a huge difference between xenophobia and rationality

He’s wrong. The message hasn’t been lost. It has simply gone stale. Fewer and fewer people are willing to buy it any more.

Hopefully. However, the voters need to understand the left is the enemy and the they need to permanently vote against them.

The other factor is the right needs to understand they must stay vigilant, and always stay on the offensive.

Perfectly said, GOPsterinMA. “Permanently” is the key.

If the UK had another election right now Labour would win since most of the Liberal Democrat vote has migrated to them because of the massive unpopularity of the coalition with their base voters.

No, they’re socialists. Tony Blair moved them a little to the right in order to win. Liberal Democrats are also a left party. Last election the Conservative Party (lead by a “CINO”) won but they didn’t have a majority so they formed a coalition with the Lib Dems. Lib dem voters aren’t happy with it.

Ah...ok...thank you for the explanation. So, the Brits have an uber-leftist party, a leftist party and a centrist (RINO) party, right?

The Lib Dems are kinda weird. They are to left of Labour on the war on terror and Iraq (cause Tony Blair was for it) but they are a little to Labour’s right on some other issues. Historically the old Liberal Party used to be classical liberal (Churchill was a member once before they got too bad) but like our democrats they turned into party of the left. In the past they were more center-left while Labour was full-tilt socialist but since Blair’s “New Labour” moved to the right and they themselves moved more to the left they aren’t very different.

Labour is the party of the unions (hence their name) and college leftys prefer the Lib Dems.

There are still real Conservatives in the Conservative party but there are tons of CINOs too like the new Prime Minister Dave Cameron and even worse the Obama-loving Mayor of London Boris Johnson. Google Boris, his hair puts the Donald’s to shame.
