A Wichita man lived with his deceased loved one for days, hoping for a higher power to bring the woman back to life, police said.
Officers were called to a welfare check in the 1000 block of S. St. Clair Wednesday evening. Investigators said neighbors called police, concerned they had not seen the woman recently.
Police said a 54-year-old man answered the door, but did not want officers to enter the home. Authorities detained the man after a smelling a strong odor in the living room.
Officers searched the home and found a 57-year-old woman in the bedroom, deceased. Officials believe the woman died about a week ago.
Investigators said the man told officers he was praying for divine intervention to bring his fiancee back to life.
The man was taken to a local hospital for a mental evaluation, authorities said.
Investigators do not suspect foul play in the woman's death. An autopsy is underway.
Poor man, I *will* pray for him.

Uh, is he muslim?
Losing a loved one is like losing a part of your self.
She will rise................but not that body...........
ick
Wow...that’s really pretty sad. Poor guy.
Red,
The Bible does say that there’ll be neither marriage nor giving in marriage in the Heaven. - I somehow imagine, though, they’ll make an exception for you (as a part of that reward thing). :o)
He should have taken her to that old pet cemetery in Maine.
No exceptions!...............
"Bobby, you don't need a crystal ball to see Ward's future. He's going to live with his mother until she dies, and maybe for a few weeks after." - Hank Hill
HANK: This is a carburetor. Take it apart. Put it back together. Repeat until you're normal.
BOBBY: But Dad, the dark arts are nothing to be afraid of.
HANK: I'm not afraid of that garbage. I'm afraid of you getting your ass kicked every day for the rest of your life because you found a new way to act like a nerd.
BOBBY: Ward said you wouldn't understand.
HANK: Bobby, you don't need a crystal ball to see Ward's future. He's going to live with his mother until she dies, and maybe for a few weeks after.
She wasn’t any less responsive in bed than normal. The man didn’t suspect anything was wrong.
“Losing a loved one is ‘like’ losing a part of your self”....
That’s because they were part of yourself.
“And the two shall become one”.
None other rips the heart and mind as this form of lose....
Very true..
My daughter observed: “Usually it’s the man that has the heart attack and dies, not the woman.
