Navy halts move to allow gay unions by chaplains

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Under pressure from more than five dozen House lawmakers, the Navy late Tuesday abruptly reversed its decision that would have allowed chaplains to perform same-sex unions if the Pentagon decides to recognize openly gay military service later this year.

In a one-sentence memo obtained by The Associated Press, Rear Adm. Mark Tidd, chief of Navy chaplains, said his earlier decision has been "suspended until further notice pending additional legal and policy review and interdepartmental coordination."

The Navy said its lawyers wanted to do a more thorough review of the legal decision that allowed Navy chaplains to receive training to perform civil unions on military bases, but only in states where gay marriage is legal.

Military training to apply the new law allowing gays to serve openly began earlier this year and is expected to be completed by midsummer.

Where is our glorious President? Why is he not speaking up on behalf of gay sailors wanted to exercise their right to marry, like everybody else? Obama pushed this through and now fails to implement it fully. He should offer the White House as a wedding venue for gay soldiers who wants to get hitched.

The “openly gay is OK” rule exceeds alinsky’s wildest dreams in how to destroy the USA.

all I've read today has been so upsetting to me...California lifeguards making over $200,000 a year, zero bowing down to the illegals with the Mexican flag behind him, and having the Navy even considering allowing chaplains to marry the genderbenders....

so glad the world is ending on the 21st.....*sigh*

Why stop there? How about stopping the move to allow openly gay service?

100% stolen. I should have bookmarked the post from where and whom I stole it, but what would be the fun of that?

As soon as someone raises a stink, the rats retreat and scurry for cover. These rats’ modus operandi is ignorance and pitch black darkness!

and interdepartmental coordination."

This means that it will be back. Probably out of sight in an underhanded fashion.

They're the govt. WE THE PEOPLE don't count worth a spit anymore. The govt has grown so big and bloated that it can crush the rest of us without question so why should it pay any attention to what we want and don't want. *shrug*

This “gay marriage” in the Navy is just a distraction from the “openly serving”; in the end they’ll “serve openly”, and we’re supposed to think, “At least they can’t get married in the Navy chapels”. The federal government has never recognized “gay marriage”; why would its military?

Apparently the Navy has retreated from this position after “5 dozen” congress critters inquired.
