60 Minutes aired the interview Steve Kroft conducted with President Obama on Wednesday at the White House in which the Commander-in-Chief discussed the successful mission to kill Osama bin Laden.
"I felt very strongly there was a strategic imperative to go after him," the President said even though he admitted they had no photograph and no direct evidence of bin Laden's presence.
The President also said he was "about as active as any project that I've been involved with since I've been President... I was not involved with designing the initial plan but each iteration they'd bring to me, make a full presentation, we would ask questions. We had multiple meetings in the Situation Room where we actually had a model of the compound and we would discuss how this operation might proceed and what various options there were."
Later, Kroft asked for the President's thoughts about the compound in Pakistan.
"I think we were surprised when we learned this compound had been there for five or six years, and it was in an area in which you would think that potentially he would attract some attention. Obama: I Was ‘As Active in Planning OBL Mission As Any Other Project During My Presidency’

“Obama: I Was ‘As Active in Planning OBL Mission As Any Other Project During My Presidency’”
I believe that.
So the little troll is crawling out from under the bridge on the 9th hole and pinning medals on himself. He’s looking like a boney Dukakis driving a tank. All we need is obuma wearing a poodle suit and my mental image is complete.
I find it fascinating that this was taped when he was in his I,I,me, me mode about this mission before that started to go bad for him and he canceled his victory lap around GZ. And you are right on the money 2ndDivisionVet, he sounds desperate to have people believe he was involved, which tells me he wasn’t.
That just sounds so funny!
My impression is that he is weak and hates the military. But he knew that since the opportunity presented itself; he had to let the professionals do their jobs.
And his only part was saying “ok” which in and of itself, was a good move on is part.
But to think he had any role in planning anything is comedy.
Certainly! I hate to hear so many make a priori statements that are just plain contrary to fact and then, when shown, claim that the facts are irrelevant.
Yes, he has been quite active in planning other projects -- such as his vacations to Hawaii, Rio, Martha's Vineyard and executing perfect golf swings.
