No article, just a question.
When did Osama's first name change to Usama (UBL)? On FOX, the spelling change is done. Why?
Not to confuse with our president?
Just asking
Here is a 2003 news article from Fox News that mentions “Usama Bin Laden”.

Good observation!

Baraq [Barack] was the name of the winged horse-like creature that took Mohammed to Paradise in the Night Journey. Baraq can also mean God's blessing.Obama is Swahili for Osama, who was one of Mohammed's chief warriors. Osama also means lion.
Hussein reminds some Americans of Saddam Hussein, and Obama's supporters get upset if it is used. Hussein was the name of Mohammed's grandson.
So Obama's entire name is based upon Islamic mythology and African conquest. Barack Hussein Obama means [Allah's blessing] [Mohammed's grandson] [One of Mohammed's finest warriors].
An excerpt from Barack Obama and Slavery[American Thinker]. Written before the election by Bill Warner, director of the Center for the Study of Political Islam.
Anyone ever heard this mentioned anywhere in the press /s
The difference in spelling is a power thing. If your spelling of a name wins, you win.
Pei-king/Peiking /Peijing/Beijing, Bombay/Mumbai, Quadaffy, etc. Does anyone care? The a$$wipes pushing their own little self-centered agenda do, and the media plays along.

Actually, people were calling him Usama *before* Osama, but there were some in the media who refused to call him anything but Osama, and it eventually “took”. Like Khaddafi, there is no actual direct translation from Arabic, so however you want to spell it, is equally valid.
I had a fight with someone a week ago about this. Both spellings are correct. Although “Osama” is more popular, Usama is correct as well. It is because Arabic uses a different alphabet. If you want to get really technical and by the book, “Usama” would probably be the more correct because there is no letter equal to “O” in Arabic. but generally all phonetic spellings are accepted. This is the same issues with the spelling of Koran/Qu’ran.
Looking through news archives, you can find references to “Usama” or UBL going back all the way to the 93 WTC bombing.
No conspiracy, I think spelling it “Osama” is just easier to read.
Regarding Fox News, last week I found an article from back near 9/11 where they spelled it both ways- in the same article. LOL..
The FBI also uses
O vs U: Over or Under the ground!

Here’s an article from 2001: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,41576,00.html
(also note the interesting content!)
No, FOX used to spell it with an O but later changed to U. That was about the time they started getting leftist so I chalked it up to kowtowing to CNN. It wasn't long after that I quit watching FOX.
Both cut from the same cloth.
Of course it was to protect the Marxist/Muslim usurper.
Too easy to confuse the two muzzie’s names- Osama, Obama.
But plenty of newscasters did anyway. LOL
Ahhh...ok, thanks.
