NEW YORK Authorities apprehended a man who witnesses say may have pulled a gun out of a backpack as President Barack Obama's motorcade passed today in New York.
The man, who wore a blue hat, had dark curly hair and appeared to be in his 20s, was wearing a backpack. New York Police Department officers and Secret Service agents shouted, "Get down, get down," and tackled the man at the corner of Church and Vessey Streets in lower Manhattan.
Obama had just left the World Trade Center site and his motorcade was turning from Vessey Street to Church Street when the incident occurred in front of the Church Street Station Post Office.
The man was taken into the post office as dozens of officers from various organizations arrived to assist.

Boy, isn't everyone going to be embarrassed when it turns out the guy is only one of Holder's “people” and was only dancing and flashing his gatt as a shout-out to his homie in the White House.
Good link. Thanks.
No you can’t. He is not one, but the heavily armed SS will not be be giving you orders to stop or drop your knife/gun. The ones in suits might but the SWAT like team is there for one reason only.
“the person who had a messenger bag slung over his shoulder.
The man was walking his bike toward the World Trade Center, saying “Secret Service, Secret Service coming through.”
Dumb azz bike messenger?
Yeah right. Security is so tight around the POS, it squeezes his ahole shut.
Okay... I was illustrating the absurd (that photo of one guy) with the absurd. It never occurred to me that if I approached this guy from the front one of his 20 friends would take me out (sarcasm here).
But seriously the guy in that picture is either taking a nap or is Barney Fife! His eyes are covered and they look closed. His body position is relaxed. His hands are at rest on the top of his MP5. Its hard to tell for sure but his MP5 may even be on safe. If someone wanted to take him out this guy would be in a world of hurt. Thats not the way you walk a post or a beat or a perimeter or stand guard. At least pull the mask down from in front of your eyes!!!
He probably won’t be making any deliveries for a while.
“A gun against the presidential motorcade?
What? Obama is not going to stick his head out (of the sunroof).”
Never underestimate the power of a photo-op......
May have?
Did he or didn’t he? Didn’t the reporter check this story out before running with it?
Powder..patch..ball FIRE!
not unless you have been practicing face shots for the last 6 months....
Man pulls gun; Obama hides behind Michelle.
Breaking news about things that “may have” happened. Is it any wonder that people don’t want to buy these rags anymore? Today’s journalists are a joke.
“New York Police Department officers and Secret Service agents shouted, ‘Get Down!’ ‘Get Down!’”
Someone in the crowd should have shouted back,
“Get Funky!” “Get Funky!”
That is what snipers are for.
Well, I don’t get it. Witnesses say man may have pulled gun, but if they tackled him, wouldn’t they have found a gun? Shouldn’t the title be, man found with gun?
Or did they not find a gun, and this is all just hyperbole to get the lefty moonbats in a dither??
He was a bike messenger - sounds like he was just trying to make people get out of his way so he can do his job.
Mayor Bloomberg is looking for an obese white tea “bagger” as we speak. Probably upset over Obamacare passing.
Pulled a gun? Impossible. Guns are illegal in New York, don’tcha know.
Or possibly reaching for his camera to get a picture of his Islamic godlike idol.
