Osama Bin Laden Raiders Encountered False Door, Found Small Arsenal in Compound

New revelations about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden reveal that the SEAL raiders encountered a false door and found a small arsenal of weapons, including an AK-47 assault rifle in bin Laden's bedroom.

As the Navy SEALs have been debriefed about their mission that left the al Qaeda leader dead, the White House has been forced to correct details of what happened during Sunday's raid at bin Laden's Abbottabad compound.

Despite the changes in the White House version of what happened during the 40 minute raid on bin Laden's sprawling million dollar mansion, officials were unapologetic about the SEALs' actions.

"These guys are American heroes. They were told to kill bin Laden. We've had the authority to kill bin Laden since 9/11. And that's exactly what they did," a U.S. official told ABC News.

The SEALs were already in a heightened and aggressive posture, but that was exacerbated when one of the first doors they tried to open turned out to be a false door. The bricked off, false door put the military members in a position of suspecting that the house would be full of such items, perhaps with lethal booby traps. The SEALs reportedly had a specially trained dog with them on the raid who could sniff for bombs and to see if rooms were booby trapped.

The Americans were also fired on by a man who was one of bin Laden's trusted couriers, officials said. The courier was killed by return fire from the SEALs, and they did not encounter any additional gunfire.

That early gunfire indicated to the SEALs that they might expect further resistance. And they did find a small arsenal of weapons in the home.

At least one AK-47 was found in bin Laden's room.

So the White House’s 40 minute firefight story turns into a tale of little to no resistance and no one armed and fightin back! Where are the leftist congressmen calling the SEALS murderers and terrorists?? They did that during Haditha, didn’t they??!!! Is the left calling for an investigation or trial for the SEALS??!! After all, they killed UNARMED individuals, just like Haditha, right??!!

3 rifles and two pistols hardly sounds like an “arsenal”.

Yep, good points.

“...Someone somewhere else has posited that the SEALS were briefed to expect that OBL might have a suicide vest on his body. Therefore, they didn’t wait for the blinding flash of the vest going off before dropping him. (This makes sense, doesn’t it?)”

On Mark Levin’s show last night, a former special ops guy called in and speculated from his previous experience on numerous raids that it’s also possible that OBL’s own people may have taken him out (as an assisted suicide) before the SEALs had time to reach the third floor of the compound. The angle of the headshot wound may be evidence of this.

I'm a California average Homeowner and I have more guns that that.

Well, at least I did until I had that tragic boating accident.

Memo to self, don't clean your guns while piloting your boat in rough seas.

Really, the definition covers storage of weapons.

1.A collection of weapons and military equipment stored by a country, person, or group: “Britain’s nuclear arsenal”.

2. A place where weapons and military equipment are stored or made.

If there was a restrictive version of the word “arsenal”, it has long since passed.

Armory is also a storage facility for weapons where they are also repaired; and it usually stores powder as well, if it’s a 17th-century version like in Williamsburg, Va.

To a Liberal, that's a National Guard Armory.

From what I saw (and I'm not 100% sure it was photo) there was a large (palm of the hand) sized flap of scalp over the left eye that would, in my experience be an exit wound. It was NOT the one floating around the internet showing multiple shrapnel wounds to the head. This was a fresh kill with lots of blood, as is typical of a head wound.

Of course I can't be 100% positive but it looked good to me. The face was bloody but clearly identifiable.

And yes, I have a great deal of experience in such matters.

This is the best a terrorist mastermind can do?

I got more in my pantry by the catfood.

Hell, my dogs have more of their own guns in their pantry next to the dogfood!

This may put the number of firearms held by the world's
most wanted man below the Texas average homeowner.

Limbaugh must have read your comment, he just said the exact same thing.

It’s all crap. I bet he was sitting on an arsenal and the Pakis sanitized it after the raid.

Has the White house finally got it’s story straight and the All Barack Channel is finally spewing out what they want everyone to believe now?

“it’s also possible that OBL’s own people may have taken him out (as an assisted suicide)”

I think it is more likely osama got sloppy because he figured obama would never allow a mission to kill him in that part of pakistan. And in the end barry only signed off after 4 months of dithering!

—Yeah, I wondered about that, too. He probably would’ve been armed with a lot more if he figured otherwise.

“And in the end barry only signed off after 4 months of dithering!”

—I wonder if there is something to all those rumors that Panetta was the one calling the shots. The timing of his change in positions is interesting. Maybe he demanded that Barry take action or he was going to leave and leak the info out that nothing was being done... and in return for giving the go-ahead, they offered him the Defense spot?

I have bid on materials for many Saudi villas and poured over the architectural drawings. They always say villa and I suspect mansion is a mistranslation early on in this event.

The house in question had no decorative plants. The villa had no marble, either floors or walls. it had no interior glass partitions or doors or carved wood doors. I saw no walk in cooler. I saw no lavish elevator door of wood or bronze. I saw no hydraulic lift to raise the fully stocked banquet table from the food prep area to the dining room above. I saw no mention of walk in closets with motorized clothes storage hanger areas. I saw no show place furniture. I saw no divided foyer or gathering rooms for women and a separate one for men. I saw no basement with concealed door and bar that disappears behind a wall or into the ground. I saw no rococo plaster work or decorative moulding. I saw no fountain or water feature.

I saw no opulence, even a middle class attempt at opulence

The building is austere. It more closely resembles a commercial compound and office and warehouse facility. The walls seen by visitors are parged and painted. Those not seen by visitors are plain and un parged and unpainted. The compound is sterile, no plants and flowers. The place is utilitarian in a commercial rather than residential nature.

My guess is the ascetic Osama built a compound that looked like an agricultural facility on the margin of what are extensive croplands. Like King Faisal, he lived an ascetic low key life.

The MSM is absolutely goofy in the misunderstanding

I was barely out of middle school in 93, but if I knew any better then, I’d probably agree with you. As a man now, I can look back at my youth and the history of this country in the 31 short years I’ve been on this Earth, and I can say without a doubt that we’ve been slipping down the hill and grasping at any branch that hits us in the ass since the end of the Reagan era.

Sad, really.
