WASHINGTON Knowing there would be disbelievers, the U.S. says it used convincing means to confirm Osama bin Laden's identity during and after the firefight that killed him. But the mystique that surrounded the terrorist chieftain in life is persisting in death.
Was it really him? How do we know? Where are the pictures?
Already, those questions are spreading in Pakistan and surely beyond. In the absence of photos and with his body given up to the sea, many people don't believe bin Laden the Great Emir to some, the fabled escape artist of the Tora Bora mountains to foe and friend alike is really dead.

Where’s his death certificate?
By the way that was a stunning job led by our venerable CIC, Barack Hussein Obama.
Dear Leader was DESPERATE for something to boost his plummeting poll numbers. What better to do it with than a crock about killing UBL, absent one shred of proof that it actually happened, and the only supposed eye-witnesses being the military, who are forbidden upon pain of courts martial from rebutting Dear Leader’s yarn?!
And showing a bunch of galley-garbage-wrapped-in-a-white-sheet being slid off a board into the water ain’t gonna’ cut it, either! I was born at night.....but it wasn’t LAST night!
Compound then secured.
Evidence seized.
Evac sent for.
Body tagged and bagged.
Flown to a US ship.
DNA testing done on body.
Religious ceremony held.
Body dumped at sea.
All in less than 24 hrs.
hmmmm.
Right out of a Vince Flynn novel.
It might not have been foolish. It may have been intended to defer the flack that would have come if it wasn't a proper burial. The head cam videos will be released "by mistake" and then you can question those. Maybe a Seal kept a body part for DNA. I suspect there are some pretty vivid pictures and videos being analyzed.
Damn - we both got the line wrong. “(S)he’s not only merely dead, (s)he’s really most sincerely dead.” At any rate, this is a day of independence, for all the Munchkins and their descendants - if any...
“hmmm...” what?
There’s nothing so hard to believe about any of that. If it’s all a big lie, it’s a pretty dumb lie, since it’s awfully easy to disprove if OBL is still alive.
That, and now the whole crew of an aircraft carrier is complicit and sworn to silence.
Yah... that’ll work.
He has achieved perpetual pulselessness.
No, you haven't thought of the middle east, where fact and fiction are already easily and often confused. They will say, "Oh sure there was a raid. But Osama, bin Laden punked the Americans, he was never there in the first place!"
"After all," they will say," Where's the evidence? No body no pics, some bogus DNA manipulated behind closed doors! That's all! Great victory for Islam and Osama!"
So far we have the end:
"The Islamic religious rites were carried out aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson in the North Arabian Sea, American Forces Press Service reported the official said.
"Preparations for at-sea [burial] began at 1:10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (Monday) and were completed at 2 a.m.," the official, who spoke under conditions of anonymity, said.
Does this mean we’ll have new “Elvis” or “Bigfoot” sightings????
If the morons in the Middle East don’t beleive he’s dead, it makes it difficult for anyone wanting to step forward as his successor.
He’s still dead, Jim.
I probably should not quote anything I hear as I am partially deaf. Next time I watch “the Wizard”, I will turn on captioning.
"At 2 p.m. Sunday EDT, Obama met with his national security team to review final preparations on the assault.
At 3:50 p.m., he learned that Bin Laden had been "tentatively identified." A little more than three hours later, the president was told, after the operation, that there was a "high probability" that it had been the Al Qaeda leader who had been killed in the operation."
So this all happened in less than 12 hours?
I find it disturbing that not even the conspiracy nuts are bringing up the third possibility....
I googled "Abbottabad." At first, I thought they were saying "Abadabad." It turns out that the city was named after Major James Abbott, a British Army officer during the Raj. He founded the town, which was apparently quite a pleasant place.
Seems very plausible to me, assuming the adults from the military were in charge. The Wash DC crew looked to be spectators more than anything.
It's about 1500km from Islamabad to the coast plus whatever standoff distance the Carl Vinson maintained.
There are some who believe we went to the moon a lot more than "they" say. Google "Apollo 20."
That a devastating attack is imminent and the thought process was ‘we might as well whack him now and tell the world’?
