WASHINGTON – Helicopters descended out of darkness on the most important counterterrorism mission in U.S. history. It was an operation so secret, only a select few U.S. officials knew what was about to happen.

The location was a fortified compound in an affluent Pakistani town two hours outside Islamabad. The target was Osama bin Laden.

re: continued the Bush foreign policy

There is GREAT, made to order political campaign here! If I were running a campaign for 2012 I would do a really clever series of commercials pointing out the difference between following Bush's policy on terror Obama’s policy on the economy! I would drive home the idea that one policy led to success while the other was an abject failure, and then ask when it comes to matters of importance to our way of life which result would you prefer, success or failure?

Why was this not published in the Slimes months ago? Were they promised an exclusive with an embedded reporter?

Where was the Pakistani air force?

What would YOU do with the body? Drag it down Pennsylvania Avenue in a mock Roman Triumph? Put his head on a pike on permanent display at ground zero?

— I would have at least taken pictures of it the way we did with Saddam. Arab Muslims are not going to take Dumbo at his word any more than we are.

Disposing of the body after one day in accordance with Muslim religious law lets us show the Arab world we are bigger and better people than them.

— I have no need to show the Arab world that I am better than they are. And this one phrase really does out you as a leftie troll.

Dumping the rats’ corpse five fathoms deep means it can never be made into a shrine by his fanatical followers.

— I don’t mind a burial at sea somewhere, just not before we have confirmation that it really is OBL (and why did all the news networks, including Fox, start using the ‘Usama’ rather than ‘Osama’ spelling?)

a win-win for us I think

I feel that you have it right. Key word is “feel” because I don’t really know.

the greatest mass killer in the last 40 years

The dude had nothing on Pol Pot.

from 1976–1979. Pol Pot's leadership, in which he attempted to "cleanse" the country, resulted in the deaths of an estimated 1.7–2.5 million people.
