I am not yet buying into yesterday’s claim. The news accomplishes several things, whether it is true or false. It takes the US off of Osama’s trail. It will boost Obama’s domestic popularity like nothing else at a nadir of his popularity. It justifies our immediate withdrawal from these various expensive and unpopular operations.

I agree Barry deserves some credit for allowing the mission to happen. But does anyone think this ever would have happened if Barry had been president on 9-11? He never would have fought the Afghan war. We'd still be conducting "diplomacy," applying "pressure" and holding Security Council meetings to try to get the Afghans to extradite OBL.

If Osama bin Laden is indeed dead, I think tax-payers deserve genuine proof of his demise.

Mussolini, Che, Saddam...we all have proof of their end. What does this Administration do? They genuflect even to OBL's corpse. Talk of a big "firefight" with Navy SEALS so the "Arab Street" knows their hero went down fighting among the best we have. Burial in the Arabian Sea so no Muslim sensibilities are offended. A big midde-finger and no proof to the American tax-paying public.
