Actually, penetration is considered rape. People can be raped with an object (a broomstick, for example), or manually. And the term applies to both men and women when they are subjected to penetration.

Most states have a law called “rape by instrumentation”. That is the forcible or non-consensual penetration of a vagina by something other than a penis. The penalties are pretty severe.
