Birthers, buffoonery and a sad discourse
The Washington Post ^ | April 29 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 05/01/2011 9:45:04 AM PDT by Tex-Con-Man

If you really, really dislike Barack Obama, his long-form birth certificate, finally proffered in exasperation, is quite simply a counterfeit.

If you are a fan of the president — or even a respectful critic — you are relieved finally to have rid the country of the plague of “birtherism,” the rabid belief that Obama wasn’t born in this country and isn’t constitutionally qualified to be president.

To whichever group one claims membership, one can’t help wondering when exactly we lost our minds.

...

Yes, obviously. Trump resurrected the birther cause and breathed new life into it. But it wasn’t only to end the debate that Obama sent for his certificate. According to the vineyard, it was also to prevent other Republican candidates from looking sane by comparison to Trump.

...

In a saner time, Trump would be dismissed as the carnival barker Obama implied he is. People would have recognized Trump as a self-aggrandizing megalomaniac and put a period at the end of the sentence. Not remotely would his name be followed with this phrase: “who is leading other Republican candidates in polls.”

...

Alas, there is no reasoning with the unreasonable, too many of whom these days seem to self-identify as Republicans or conservatives. This is as Democrats would have it, needless to say, but no one is served by our national descent into silliness. Sadly missing on the Republican side is the leveling voice of the grown-up who will say not only that he takes Obama’s word (and the clear evidence), but that the Republican Party won’t tolerate further discussion. Case closed.

-Gas prices and food prices have risen because of the weakened US Dollar.

-Govt health care will be worse than private.

- The only way to close a budget gap is to spend less not tax more.

- Deficits are bad.

- Open Borders are bad.

- Abortion takes a life.

None gain traction in MSM and never will.

Using the BC hasn’t worked logic means we should abandon them as well.

I think all those can resonate regardless of party affiliation.

Yet they have not gained "traction" in the MSM.

The statement that an issue must gain traction in the MSM is ridiculous.

The statement that an issue must gain traction in the MSM is or be abandoned is ridiculous. Unless one is a liberal.

I say we have a lot of work to do. And we are quickly running out of time. We need to quit whining about the game being stacked against us and figure out a way to make it into a new game.

The Tea Party in Utah got rid of Bennett. There is the Post-It note campaign.

The next time there is a Tea Party march forget Washington, D.C. Instead, it should be in New York City right in front of the news stations and in the driveways of their homes.

Gas is over $4 a gallon here, and $5 a gallon elsewhere, and every body's home lost half its value, and the nation is in a mess all because too many people trust Democrats.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Here's a nice Post-It note saying!

Gas- Twice the price!
House- Half its value!

I've run multiday events with loads of speakers (and instructors). ALL SCRIPTED.

So, was that meeting just for Heritage Foundation or were there others there ~ like Log Cabin Republicans such as was suggested by another poster.

As it becomes easier and easier to produce documents on the fly the need for "secure" features in the output product becomes less and less. That's because you can presumably backtrack to the source INSTANTLY to find out if what you have in hand is what they produce.

The quality and appearance of the final product degrades substantially as a consequence.

Seems to me the lack of finish in this device rather demonstrates that it's probably legitimately produced. Whether or not the content in the data base that it's created from is legitimate is a different question.

Dwelling on technological features of the here and now is rather nonproductive. Keeping focused on where the data for the database actually came from has been very productive. Now, who's this Lee person?

Most of what I saw were theme based panels. Presenters would make short presentations and then sit down to join a small panel. Once the short presentations were finished, it was open discussions, including the audience.

Like I said ...unscripted...and no birtherism.

Heritage sponsored the event, and I saw literature from American Spectator, Cato Institute and many others.

As far as the Log Cabin Republicans, you'll have to address the poster who seems to be on either the Dallas Voice or Log Cabin Republicans email list, because I personally never saw any of that.

The only “gay agenda” I heard was about Holder refusing to defend DOMA, and the political thuggery used to intimidate the Congressional lawfirm to break their agreement to defend it.

Things most conservatives consider a much higher priority than the latest WND “discovery”.

“some witness to his birth other than his aunt (who may or may not have mispoke when she said she was there).”

I’d like to see, and it may be out there and I just haven’t seen it, a transcript of the lady’s interview, translated by an indifferent panel of people. Maybe former Brit officials from the “Protectorate” days. I doubt that she “misspoke,” but she may have been mis-translated during the course of that interview. Frankly,,, that would carry a lot of weight with me!

Well, it's not that we got a Burger Deluxe instead of Prime Rib. It's that on the way to the table someone took a few bites out of our sandwich, yet we're expected to believe that's the way it's always served.

Remember when Bush made a speech before a group of Old Order Amish? They translator told them, in Plattdeutsch, that Bush wanted to be on God's side. Later on a different translator took the Amish Correspondent's article base on the speech as translated and translated it into English and had Bush saying God is on his side, and God talks to him.

I thought it was a laugh riot, but the Democrats took it all as gospel. It was beyond their ability to understands what happens in translation.

Your ideas have merit.

However, our discussions, as interesting and rewarding as they are, do not replace the SCOTUS. Let them tell us what a Natural Born Citizen is. By the admission of various justices, they have had ample opportunity to do so, and have shirked and evaded their Constitutional duty.

I still want to know what all the “embarrassing” information some liberals told us would be on the long-form birth certificate that they didn’t want Obama to reveal. Was it all just “pre-emptive” covering for him?
