Just got a flash on the 'puter that NorthCom has upped the threat condition to FPCON Bravo. Not sure what triggered it, but it's the first elevation in some time. Watch the news and maintain your SA, folks.

Apparently, Gadhafi was successful twice albeit small-scale. Means he can follow through. However, it is probably less likely now. But still a threat.
This sounds to me like they know more about the OTMs who have been coming in over our southern border than they are telling us.
I take it you are free to spread this information. Do they release it to the media in general at the same time?
He mentions Libia ,Egypt, and Syria and Ankara as a possible flashpoint for WW 3....,somthing like that
Hmmmm...Not nearly as serious as the BOAGYA alert level we reached in November 2008...
Damn bad time for me to have had that nightmare last night. Looked up in the sky and saw two missiles flying up into the sky I watched the arch as the missiles flew across the sky and began their descent, SE of my home, in the general direction of Philly. I watched as the mushroom cloud bubbled up and clouds could be seen heading my general direction.
” The scariest post on this thread so far BY FAR. “
In case you want to give up all hope of sleeping at night - consider how many other bills passed in the last couple of years might have similar provisions hidden in ‘em - allowing for ‘emergency’ seizure of what other parts of our economy and national life...
Remember - “We have to pass it to find out what’s in it..”
Is this just NORTHCOM, or have any of the others also raised FPCON?
Does anyone know what the levels above ‘BRAVO’ would be?
From Wikipedia:
FPCON NORMAL describes a situation of no current terrorist activity. The only security forces needed are enough to stop the everyday criminal, similar to civilian police forces.
FPCON ALPHA describes a situation where there is a small and general terrorist activity that is not predictable. However, agencies will inform personnel that there is a possible threat and standard security procedure review is conducted.
FPCON BRAVO describes a situation with somewhat predictable terrorist threat. Security measures taken by agency personnel may affect the activities of local law enforcement and the general public.
FPCON CHARLIE describes a situation when an instance occurs or when intelligence reports that there is terrorist activity imminent.
FPCON DELTA describes a situation when a terrorist attack is taking place or has just occurred. FPCON DELTA usually occurs only in the areas that are most vulnerable to or have been attacked. One example is the September 11, 2001 Attacks.
We just got the NORTHCOM notice. I don’t know whether EUCOM or PACOM has raised, and CENTCOM is always higher.

You assume correctly. And no, it’s not normally something that’s automatically publicized, but it’s not classified.

Just checked homeland security’s new system of notification and they don’t have any alerts on their page. Seems like a 2 type alert system, general and specific.
Was just implemented on April 20 and the link on NorthCom goes to the intro page. So maybe the alert was to inform of the new system?

Thanks for your explanation and for your service to our great country!
NORTHCOM is Northern Command responsible for the Continental United States
FPCON is a terrorist threat system overseen by the Department of Defense and describes the amount of measures needed to be taken by security agencies in response to various levels of terrorist threats against military facilities
Maybe, but seems a bit belated for them to be sending it out on a Sunday morning 10 days later...

Wasn’t there an IED found on that Texas bridge this week? Sounds like they are reacting a bit slow or finally have info that more may be floating interior.
