This is a mess, if you knew where he was annihilate the whole square mile around that location, with a cruise missile barrage. Surgically striking will not work here unless you really have Special Forces on the ground.

Another damn war by committee and we all know how well those work.

As for civilians big deal, once they stop killing each other, they will come after us again.

>>>>>According to Fox News the airstrike hit a residential area. Why the hell are we killing his kids and grandkids, but not him? <<<

Why? NATO is solid performer in terrorist activities. As a military fighting power NATO is scam. It was designed to confront the Soviets. yet under recently declassified info NATO expected that Soviets roll over Western Europe and reach Atlantic in 9 days!. Protection racket was a pure scam from the get go. Murdering civilians is the only thing NATO can do with success. Targeting specific target such as Gaddafi is out of the scope of NATO competence.

Even ganging up on hundred times less powerful adversary is no guarantee of NATO success.

During Kosovo war, NATO was not able to shoot Serbian Mig-29 whose pilot escaped 3 AMRAAMs,even being outnumbered 100:1 in the air and NATO having airborne AWACs while Serbia's air defence had no active radars.

After 78 days NATO destroyed 14 Serbian tanks in 31,000 sorties! Compare this number to 2000 murdered and over 6000 maimed civilians and you will get the field of NATO expertise - terrorism, not waging war.

Imagine what will wait when NATO sends ground troops. Mogadishu on a third power.

Same can be said of Iraq.

Saddam was the enemy of Iran.

Exactly.

Saddam kept Iraq/Iran Muslim extremism in check. But, "fortunately", we removed the secular despot and embraced the Religion of Peace.

The last time the US killed some of Gaddafi’s family, he went to ground and laid low for years.

Khaddafi,I don’t use his title because I don’t quit understand it, isn’t that big of a threat to anyone but his own people.....these days. That doesn’t mean he is either useful, friendly or necessary for the war on terror.

Whoever replaces him will be too busy rebuilding Libya to export terror or support anyone.Besides the way the war on terror is going, most Muslim countries will either break for actual freedom or the despots we tolerate will eventually back the terrorists. It would be much easier for tyrants like Gaddafi to back Islamics insurgents,as it looks like they are here to stay, then to crack down on them.

Tyrants like him go with whoever looks like he is going to keep them in power, the West couldn’t protect him if they wanted to.

It is better for a popular revolt to oust him, which would be a major blow to the left who have been buddies with him since Mitterand(ex-President of France),then for him to decide one day that terrorism is one industry he needs to go back into supporting.

It is unfair to hit him as he has disarmed some during the Bush years but he should have updated the way he dealt with protests along with disposing of his arsenal. That is how it works.

Because Obama can do what-ever he wants.....you didn’t get the memo? If this had happened on Bush’s watch....the left and dems would be up in arms. Obama does it....*crickets*

They are the worse kind of hypocrites!

This nails it.

If his son was 29, what age does that make the three grandchildren? Around 10 at the oldest?

Glad the Nobel Peace Prize winner is enhancing our reputation internationally.

“Saddam kept Iraq/Iran Muslim extremism in check.”

Yeah right. How we and the Iraqis long for the safe days of Saddam.

Who are you kidding?

We have no business being in this conflict - none.

This will come back to haunt us. Big time.

There have been a number of articles on FR about how Iraqi Christians were far safer in Saddam’s Iraq than in today’s Islamic Republic of Iraq. That’s a fact.

I posted this on the other thread.....bears repeating.

uH, LETS SEE WHAT OUR BRILLIANT CIC HAS DONE.....

violating a series of Geneva conventions!!!
1) Assassination attempt on A head of State...Ghadafi was in the house.
2) F...d up our intel connections cause now they can figure out WHO told us he was visiting his son.
3) Sent a missle into a only residential area ( suburb)
4) Killed his son who was not military—a student—and non combatant.
5) Killed 3 children ( the son’s kids)
6) Missed killing Ghadafi!

All this for a military oepration that is NOT a war, we are not bombing, we are only protecting the rebels.

I always thought that blowing the little iranian midget’s plane out of the sky while heading back to his hell hole after a long session of America bashing to his fans at the u.n. would be the best investment America can make. How many of our troops have been killed or maimed by irans IED’s?

Yep..meanwhile he is getting more of our soldiers killed in Afghanistan than during the entire war under Bush’s watch because of his stupid rules of engagement. Nothing Obama does makes sense unless and until folks realize he is not on our side....then everything he is doing makes sense.
