[snipets]
When Becks show made its debut on Fox News Channel in January 2009, the nation was in the throes of an economic collapse the likes of which had not been seen since the 1930s. Becks angry broadcasts about the nations imminent doom perfectly rode the wave of fear that had washed across the nation, and the relatively unknown entertainer suddenly had 3 million viewers a night and tens of thousands answering his call to rally at the Lincoln Memorial.
But as the recession began to ease, Becks apocalyptic forecasts and ominous conspiracies became less persuasive, and his audience began to drift away. Beck responded with a doubling-down that ultimately brought about his demise on Fox.
He pushed further into dark conspiracies, urging his viewers to hoard food in their homes and to buy freeze-dried meals for sustenance when civilization breaks down. He spun a conspiracy theory in which the American left was in cahoots with an emerging caliphate in the Middle East. And, most ominously, he began to traffic regularly in anti-Semitic themes.
Uh... Okay can someone tell me when the hell Glenn Beck ever was anti semetic? Being against government killing freedom is now anti semetic?
he had attacked the Jewish billionaire George Soros, a Holocaust survivor, as a puppet master and read descriptions of him as an unscrupulous profiteer who sucks the blood from people. Beck falsely called Soros a collaborator with Nazis who saw people into the gas chambers.
Yeah what about it?
It is a sign of the nations health and resilience that Beck, after 27 months at Fox, is meeting a similar end.

No reason to read another word.
When did this happen? I must have blinked and missed it.
What is your definition of a recession?
“Why is Glen Beck being canceled?”
Not canceled, his contract will expire this year, and for whatever reasons won’t be renewed with Fox News.
I meant the ‘easing of the recession’, not the recession itself. BTW, if your point is that we are in a recovery, I know that the definition of a recession is 3 quarters of no growth, and that the ‘official’ data (that is always downwards adjusted later) shows positive growth, but I question that. Also, we have a lot of growth to do to get back to where we were when Obama took office, and that is where I consider this recession over.
Milbank lost me after But as the recession began to ease.
That’s where the writer lost me. Milbank must be a prophet.
When the Berlin Wall came down, Dana was so depressed that he tried to blow his brains out but missed both brain cells. Now he can whistle “Imagine” from the hole under his left ear.
I can’t believe Beck has only been on for 2 1/2 years. Holy Cow, he put more hard facts out than any other show I’ve ever seen.
Stopped reading right there. The economy may be great for homosexual newspaper babblers, but for those of us out here in flyover country, we're just trying to survive on Obama's $4 gas and 25% food inflation.
Reading this kind of stuff just drives regular people away, and Milbank's betters at the Wapo are too ivory-tower themselves to realize it.
It has to be BETTER than “when Bush took over”, because liberals were howling about how bad 7.7% unemployment was.
He has a history of mocking hostility to the Christian faith in his writings.
Hey, Dana, you dishonest puke.....be not deceived, God is NOT mocked!

Cause I like to stick to what is obvious and easy to establish I’ve fallen out with Glenn beck. I never really bought the Egypt thing.
Why did Beck’s show get pre-empted last night? Anybody know. I tuned in at about 5:10PM and Bret Baier was doing a 2 hour news show.
