I have a son that is an Officer in the Air Force in Afghanistan right now. I just ASSUMED when he was there that he would be carrying a sidearm. Now I am not so sure and I know he won't answer me if I question him.

This is an outrage.

All American servicemen and women either overseas or serving on bases here at home should be required to wear sidearms and have automatic handguns at the ready and receive training on how to use them and make sure they are tested regularly to ensure it.

We had patrols in our company area in Cu Chi Viet Nam abound the time of TET 1968. One guy was high and almost shot another guy by accident so they decided to have us carry M14’s without ammo and the first and last guy had 12 ga. riot guns with 5 rounds each. At least I had the 12 ga.

In VEEEETNAM it was also a policy to disarm American troops if they were to be around any high ranking Pols,ie; senators, congresscritters, presidents etc.. Only the "Palace Guard" could be armed and even then they were watched by others. Its the way of life if you are a despot.
