China's population ageing rapidly
China is heading for an elderly population crisis with over 60s now accounting for more than 13 per cent of the population and the country's 'one child' policy meaning there are not enough younger people to support them.

The first national census for a decade revealed demographic problems that could derail China's booming economic growth and which are placing a heavy burden on young Chinese.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, there has been a sharp spike in older Chinese, with the percentage of over-60s rising by nearly three percentage points to 13.3 per cent of the total population, or 178 million people. At the same time, there was a sharp drop in the number of young Chinese, with under-14s making up just 16.6 per cent of the population, down from 22.9 per cent at the last count.
Meanwhile, the total population of China has swelled over the decade by 73.9 million more than the population of the UK to 1.37 billion people.
China's ageing problem is not yet as acute as Britain's, where 16 per cent are over 65, and 19 per cent under 16, but nor is China's economy as developed.
In the country's one-child families, many children feel increasingly trapped by the responsibility of each caring for an "upside-down pyramid" of two parents and four grandparents.

P!
Obamacare has the solution to this problem-death panels.
Could it be that China’s abortion policy can be the cause of its eventual demise as a world power?
They need more Mexicans!
China would be a world power even if it had a few hundred million less people, don't you think?
China is committing suicide as a civilization. Abortion with their one child policy will mean China’s dominance in the world won’t last more than a generation
Mark Steyn called this out in his book “America Alone”. He said soon there will be no more Germans (because of their low reproduction rate) then Fench and Italians and the rest of Western Europe, then Japan, Then China (because of its one-child policy).
The native U.S. is still reproducing itself but the influx of Central Americans is gaining on us.
Its an interesting situation. I would not put China n the same category as Japan or Western Europe. You have to remember that China has 1.37B people—imagine if that number doubled or tripled? The implications for that on China and its neighbors would be staggering. Western Europe does have a big demographic problem (as do white people in general).
The point is, they’re cutting their population in half each generation. The first thing that happens is that there won’t be enough wage earners to support the non-working population.
Streets of Beijing and Shanghai would be packed with elderly homeless. Everyday hundreds die and city sanitation department would be busy taking their bodies off streets.
Environmental situation does not look good in China. It seems that China is heading into down phase with extended dry weather and water shortage. Cities suffer from serious overcrowding, too China cannot carry that many people for long.
US immigration rate is 4.18 per 1000 while China's is minus 0.33 per 1000
So if you calculate these rates with the death rates you end up with a population growth rate with the US being 0.963% per year while China is at 0.493% per year.
Canada achieves about the same population growth rate as the US but she has smaller birth rate and a higher immigration rate.
In the country's one-child families, many children feel increasingly trapped by the responsibility of each caring for an "upside-down pyramid" of two parents and four grandparents. That trap of responsibility should be very good for the future birthrate. /s
It won’t be as bad for them. Even though they are nominally a communist state, they are not on the hook for the entitlements that we are.
I think that Africa might be Asia’s salvation. Africa has lots of room and can be taken. The black population will be enslaved and eradicated.
The question is will the conquerors be Indian or Chinese.
I would have thought that they were ageing at the same speed as people in other countries. Maybe the lunar calendar makes a difference.
They age at the same speed, but die slowly. The queue is getting longer.
China’s aging population won’t cause the same burden that the aging population has on the Western world. The Western world feeds its aging population - a Communist nation can just kill them all.
Sounds a lot like here now FRiend :p
