A senior CBS news anchor today labelled Donald Trump's campaign to raise doubts about President Obama's school grades as an 'ugly strain of racism'. Face The Nation host Bob Schieffer made the comments in the wake of Mr Trump's calls yesterday for Mr Obama to release college transcripts 'proving' he had the grades to enter Columbia and Harvard. The attack came as new research suggested viewers for Celebrity Apprentice - some of the most liberal for any TV show - were deserting the program due to Mr Trump's outspoken rants against Mr Obama.
The furore came soon after the President released his full birth certificate - finally putting the question of his citizenship beyond reasonable doubt. Yesterday Mr Trump called on the President to release his college transcripts.
Reacting to the call, Mr Schieffer said: 'That's just code for saying he got into law school because he's black. 'This is an ugly strain of racism that's running through this whole thing.' Earlier in the day Mr Trump had hinted that the President did not earn the grades at his first college Occidental to allow him to enter the two prestigious Ivy league schools. He said: 'I have friends who have smart sons with great marks, great boards, great everything and they can't get into Harvard.
'We don't know a thing about this guy. There are a lot of questions that are unanswered about our President.' In a separate interview given moments after Mr Obama released the birth certificate, Trump said: 'I'd like to know how does he get into Harvard, how does he get into Columbia if he isn't a very good student. 'If he wants to release it that's fine,if he doesn't want to release it that's fine too. But the word is he wasn't a very good student.'

Since we live on exactly opposite ends of the states in geography and since my background parallels yours, I will gladly run with you!

So.... did Oprah give each audience member a CITY of their own as a prize? I mean, it was a very special show, and a very special audience, don't you think?
Heck, they got cars once, and who was the guest then?
If living one's life judging others not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character is racist, fine, I'll join Dr. King on that bench.
By the way, if you are interested in reading a book by and about a black man who has refused to be pigeonholed by his race and about the evolution of his world view, A Personal Odyssey by Dr. Sowell is a good read (anything he wrote is a good read IMHO).
As for Donald Trump, I'm not a huge fan but do I believe he is racist? Please!
Just as race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. are not grounds for discrimination, neither are they automatic grounds for sainthood, and should not be a magic shield for any individual to hide behind. If you are unwilling for everything there is to be known about you to be revealed, then stay out of public life.
Bob Schieffer is 100% correct. Affirmative Action IS an ugly strain of racism...
Frankly, I didn’t know Bob Schieffer was still alive. So he is, but why the hell should anyone care what he says or thinks?
Schieffer is a liberal hack and an incontinent old fool.
Well, you guys can have MY vote in 2012 over Obama/Biden, and I do not even know who you are...
Man, prostitution just ain't what it used to be!
Hiding behind their skin color to escape responsibility cheapens a person as does using skin color to defend a person.
BTTT!!!!!
You think Cokie as a child of power didn't receive many benefits because of her father Congressman Boggs.
Her brother is one of the largest lobbyist in DC.
K Streets biggest firm on Thursday acquired one of Washingtons fastest-growing lobbying shops. Patton Boggs, the perennial lobbying powerhouse, acquired Breaux-Lott Leadership Group, the firm started in 2008 by former Sen. John Breaux (D-La.) and ex-Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.).

Bob Schiefer is a racist.
Pray for America
He’s “alive” like Larry King is still “alive.”
I would respectfully submit that “lies like a rug” might work better than “fold like a suit” in this case.
I have no idea what that rant in response to my post means. I was talking about all the accusations of racism that are being thrown around lately. If they dont want to or cant defend a person they claim racism to shut someone down who questions a person of color.
Remember, these are very special, sensitive, and morally and intellectually superior people we are talking about.
Such superior forms of life are entitled to a few eccentricities. /s
He “folded” on his resistance to revealing the document, the COLB has been an understood lie from the beginning...
