Paid Sick Day Legislation Moves Forward
WFSB ^

Posted on 04/28/2011 6:47:32 PM PDT by matt04

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Connecticut is one step closer to becoming the first state in the country requiring companies to provide sick leave to its workers. On Wednesday, those without paid sick days will rally and call for a change.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro will be in attendance at the rally in West Haven, calling for mandatory paid sick leave, and while she intends to submit a bill on the federal level, in Connecticut it's been a hot topic at the Capitol for a number of years.

The difference now is that there is a governor that supports it.

...

Supporters said it's a public health issue, and that people shouldn't be working when sick because they're afraid to stay home and lose money. But opponents said the proposal is anti-business, placing a burden on companies that could cost jobs.

Now businesses who said the bill is anti-business feel that some companies might purposely keep their staffing levels below 50 on order to avoid having to offer the paid sick leave.

I don’t care who pays for it, good workers need at least 12 paid sick days a year, 3-4 weeks vacation, 12 holiday days, a 40 hr week and full retirement at 55 along with fully paid medical for life. /s

As a masshole , I can truly say...Ya voted for DICK Blumenthal. Ct is about to become the poster child for why everyone FLEES New England, behind MA VT and ME.

The little Rhodies are the only ones who stay and play, the entire state has very little private sector work. Something like 84% of the workforce work for the state.
They never go anywhere... til the cash runs out, hasn’t happened yet.

Liberal progressive socialist just don't get it do they? CT is going to run what business they still have right out of the State entirely!

Is this the United States of free America or did the communist Russian Politburo take over while I have been in Afghanistan?

Rep. Rosa DeLauro will be in attendance

After which everyone else in attendance will immediately avail themselves of the paid sick leave.

Businesses will be fleeing Connecticut by the score. DeLauro is a big Communist Party supporter.

Oh the socialists get it. Their goal is control, not improving the economy.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro will be in attendance at the rally in West Haven...

Comrade Rosa DeLauro really missed her true calling in life.

She would have made the perfect People's Commisar of a Soviet Gulag prison camp...

In other news, U-Haul and Ryder stocks are up, big time.

Beck is leaving CT, too.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro

Isn't she the thing that let Rahm stay in her house rent free (without taxes paid)?
