Gadhafi Girds for Long Survival Battle
The Wall Street Journal ^ | APRIL 28, 2011 | SAM DAGHER

Posted on 04/28/2011 6:42:51 PM PDT by MinorityRepublican

Volunteers take part Wednesday in a weapons-training session given by Libyan government soldiers at a military camp in Tarhouna.

TRIPOLI—On a recent morning dozens of trucks filled with bulk food products coming via neighboring Tunisia were offloaded at the country's largest wholesale market outside the Libyan capital here.

The goods, including bags of flour and rice, filled warehouses as well as trucks headed to other centers sympathetic to Col. Moammar Gadhafi such as Sebha in the south.

Most food supplies used to arrive by sea at the ports of Tripoli and Misrata, Libya's commercial hub farther east. Imports have been rerouted to Tunisia because of fighting in Misrata and Western sanctions against Tripoli. Most Tunisians support the Libyan rebels and are hostile toward Col. Gadhafi but the business is welcome given the uncertain economic times in Tunisia.

The plentiful food supply is one illustration of how Col. Gadhafi's government has been adapting for a long battle.

Libyan authorities also are instructing civilian volunteers, some as young as 11, in the use of automatic rifles and distributing the weapons among households to combat the insurgency.

He yields to non democrats in the White House. I've noticed that as well. Bush made him give up WMD’s. Reagan... :) He put him on notice. This guy, commander of the greatest military force in the existence of humanity, uses him as a distraction. A terrible rape filled murderous elongation of what should have been over many weeks ago.

Well, all I can say is that by this time in Iraq, Saddam was in a spidey hole...and he didn’t emerge until the Marines took him out.

Am I the only person on Earth who can see anything wrong with this picture? I mean, is it supposed to be a common thing to see people volunteering to support and defend an "oppressive regime(TM)"???

This whole business is about George Soros wanting to control that $5T in wealth which Libya represents.

Basically, Soros and Obunga are trying to perpetrate a bank robbery in broad daylight and using American military assets to do it.

The good news is that there appear to be good possibilities for Soros, Obunga, and the entire NWO crowd to get their noses seriously bloody in this one and, if that happens, then Serbian tanks rolling back into Kosovo might be next. THAT would be an entire order of magnitude beyond $100 shows; that would be a thousand dollar show.

If he has had 25 years to prepare it might be difficult to nail him outright. Still speculation though.

You actually believe that George Soros and Bork Obunga could conceivably be on the right side of something like this????? What about the Easter rabbit and the tooth fairy????

It won't be long before we run out the term allotted for military action without Congressional approval under the War Powers Act (of which the Bamster has made a mockery).

That will be one interesting vote.

The ideal end game is either Qadaffi is gone, or he stops killing his people and settles for having his end of the country without more killing. Actually allowing voting and democracy in Libya with him there is unreal.

The ideal end game is either Qadaffi is gone, or he stops killing his people and settles for having his end of the country without more killing.

THAT (the crap about Khadaffi killing his people) is total BS just like the crap we were being fed about Slobodan Milosevic perpetrating horrors against the poor, innocent albanian narco-terrorists in Kosovo was BS. As Ellen Brown Notes:

Whatever might be said of Gaddafi’s personal crimes, the Libyan people seem to be thriving. A delegation of medical professionals from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus wrote in an appeal to Russian President Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin that after becoming acquainted with Libyan life, it was their view that in few nations did people live in such comfort:

[Libyans] are entitled to free treatment, and their hospitals provide the best in the world of medical equipment. Education in Libya is free, capable young people have the opportunity to study abroad at government expense. When marrying, young couples receive 60,000 Libyan dinars (about 50,000 U.S. dollars) of financial assistance. Non-interest state loans, and as practice shows, undated. Due to government subsidies the price of cars is much lower than in Europe, and they are affordable for every family. Gasoline and bread cost a penny, no taxes for those who are engaged in agriculture. The Libyan people are quiet and peaceful, are not inclined to drink, and are very religious.

They maintained that the international community had been misinformed about the struggle against the regime. “Tell us,” they said, “who would not like such a regime?”

Pay attention people. AS the WSJ article notes, most of the Libyan people are rallying to the support of Khadaffi, and not the slammite brotherhood.

Does a leopard change its spots? Is there any way to think that George Soros and Bork Obunga could be on the right side of something like this???

Qadaffi is an enemy of the World Wide Caliphate Movement and an enemy of the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore I am rooting for him.

GO Qadaffi, GO!

Maybe the Saudis will wake up, hold their noses, and help him.Sub Saharan Africa is also behind Qadaffi.Eff Obama and his NATO/UN running dogs. Maybe they too will wake up and read the writing on the wall.Qadaffi is single handedly stopping the World Wide Caliphate movement in its tracks, a movement now agipropped and disguised as “democracy?” What a laugh.Sharia law is not and never will be “democratic”.

Our military has NO business being in Libya.....NONE!

Syria will be the next to fall to the Muslim Brotherhood, and soon thereafter Iraq, as our military vacates Iraq and our oil sources in the Gulf are likely to be cut off, just as Obama wants. The US Navy will be pulled out of the Gulf? Just you watch it happen!Patreus was too effective in Afghanistan, and now he has been promoted out of it.We now get glimpses of the true usurpation agenda of the Obama White Hut.

Except for a very few, Congress sits on its hands, thinking to weather the storm? Sick, really so very sick. Most of them are scared to death of Obama.John McCain in particular.LTC Allen West is one of the few who is ahead of the curve. He is our canary in a cage, little else can be said other than that. And even he seems to cling to decorum a bit much.We need a few hundred Donald Trumps shaking the executive tree.

Qadaffi is a secular Arab despot so why were we against him? He gave up his WMDs after Operation Iraqi Freedom. So what else could we ask from him? We’re royally screwing him. The lesson to other countries in the region such as Iran is to hold on to their WMDs and never ever give ‘em up.

Qadaffi is a secular Arab despot so why were we against him?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Simple really, Obama wants the World Wide Caliphate to come into existence and then Obama will become its UN representative should he lose the 2012 election.

Qadaffi has stopped its expansion into Sub Saharan Africa, IN ITS TRACKS.....single handedly.

I agree with your statement on WMD.Syria is a storehouse for them ( including Sadam Hussein's WMDs, the Russians trucked them there)and soon the Islamic Brotherhood will have their hands on them. This is why President Bashar al-Assad is shooting the so called "democracy movement" protesters in the Syrian streets. The plunder will cause WW III too early to suit Iran and the World Wide Caliphate movement. Its outside the World Wide Caliphate war plan box.The USA has to leave Iraq and Afghanistan first, as Obama has helped them plan, it cannot happen until the summer of 2012.

Israel will act soon. They have to.

The Qadaffi victories in Libya are much like this:

I wonder how favorable Russia and company will be toward Qadaffi now that a major Imam in Russia wants to add a crecent to the Russian flag. Also does the term Potempkin Villiage mean anything to you? How do you know the Russian visitors saw the whole situation. Several major tribal groups are currently rebelling because they were not so well treated when the goodies were being given out, not to mention other much worse treatment.

Firstly. I cannot read the whole WSJ article due to having to subscribe or log in. So two days back I just dropped any further reading on this post.
As for your statements referencing the Russians. Your points are valid. I don't think anyone has a clear/whole picture as to who supports/apposes who in this situation.
Lastly I assume your reference to Potempkin Villiage, references the mythical or partly true story between General Potyomkin and Empress Catherine. Smoke screens/mirrors, heheh false building facades.
One thing is for sure. The Russians do keep a careful watch over what is going on. If the Libyan refineries and oil/gas pipelines where all to get destroyed just for one simple scenario, then the Russians could gain in capturing a bigger sales of their carbon products to Europe then they already have. So many scenarios to consider.
