When To Expect Price Hikes For Detergent, Dish Soap, Hand Soap, Pet Food, Metamucil, Paper Towels, And Diapers

We mentioned this morning how Proctor & Gamble earnings got squeezed thanks to rising commodity prices.
The good news (for P&G shareholders) is that the company has a series of price hikes on the way.
This is from the company's conference call, via Seeking Apha. A complete timeline for upcoming consumer price hikes:
In early June, price increases will go into effect on laundry detergents, hand and auto dish washing products, Iams pet nutrition, Head & Shoulders and Metamucil. Effective in late June, our price increases on Bounty and Charmin. And effective in early July, our increases on Pampers diapers and wipes.
Meanwhile, it seems pretty clear that higher commodity costs are bad for workers.
Read between the lines here:
We're taking a holistic approach to the commodity cost increases we're facing. First, we're turning up the dial on our productivity and cost savings initiatives. As I mentioned earlier, for the first 3 quarters this fiscal year, we've generated an average of 150 basis points of cost savings per quarter...
We all know what "turning up the dial on our productivity" initiatives means.

ugh
Good thing we don’t pay for any of that stuff, eh? :D
Metamucil? I like how it gets stuck in with pet food and dish soap. LOL
Maybe it will be needed when all we have to eat is milk bones and pig ears.
Yeah. Work harder, sometimes doing more than one job, and get paid less. If you don't like it, then go work somewhere el**.... Oh wait a minute! That's right!! There's nowhere else to work!!! Sucks to be you!
I filled up the car ($70) and food shopped today. Man, it felt like inflation’s about 25%. Brutal.
Meanwhile, gas, food and traffic ticket increases are killing us.
This is all stuff you can stock up now. No shelf life problems.
Figures. Laundry detergent, soap and dandruff shampoo. All things liberals don’t use.
Speaking of which, WHERE’S our new coupon ping list, young man? :p
Ping for any stuff you might want to stock up on in May
It’s coming! I haven’t forgotten, but I want to do the whole thing right and I overestimated my ability to get it done before Easter. We had to go to my mother’s for Easter, so we were out of town from Thursday to Monday and we had to leave on Tuesday to go to SC for job interviews for my wife. We’re here until Sunday. So, I’m kind of stuck out of the coupon world for two weeks straight, which sucks. I missed $.16 A&H toothpaste at Rite Aid. :(
I’m back to normal on Monday though and it’s near the top of my todo list for the week.
I guess I’m not totally out of the coupon world though, because I’m probably the only guy in the world who brought Similac coupons on ‘vacation’ to pay for stuff at Walmart with overage. I drove the Similac right over to Birthright for a quick donation to someplace useful, since I’m not about to carry it back on the plane just to donate it at home.
I’m also going to go around to every supermarket in the area and ‘interview’ them about their coupon policies.
I’m looking forward to stacking the Target Bounty coupons from the 4/10 RP with the ones coming in the P&G insert on Sunday. I think it will still require a sale to get a really good price, but there is definitely some possibility there. Especially if they’re $1 coupons in the P&G and not the .25 that they say in the previews. We usually get $1 ones in my area.
$.99 Fusion ProGlide razors at Rite Aid on Sunday and $3.99 Garnier hair color. Slow week otherwise. Wags has a Gillete deal too, but there’s way less OOP at RA.
Oh and a little bird told me that if you call this number:
1-800-778-7462
You can request up to 2 coupons for $2 off either Tidy Cats cat litter or Purina cat food. You can get two per person per month. The 10lb bag of Tidy Cats is $1.77 at Walmart, so you get a bit of overage too.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! :D
Ping to #13. There’s some info there you may be interested in towards the end. :)
Yay! Waiting with bated breath.
I just got $36 worth of Lawry’s seasoning packets for $4.50. We had fajitas for dinner, using the 75% off flour tortillas and the great sour cream deal. :)
I was just looking at my detergent stock and thinking had enough for a while. Guess that’s out. : /
What’s the sour cream deal? Breakstone with a sale and the $1/2 coupon?
I have a Price Rite near me in Albany, so I get sour cream for $.99 regular price, so I’m sort of spoiled by that. I have to check Aldi down here to see what their prices are like down here.
Remember, you can make your own, so don’t pay too much.
I haven’t had to make it myself, because I was stockpiling and then started couponing, so I’ve got scads of laundry detergent, but I hear the Duggars’ recipe is great:
