PDS Tornado watch just issued for Northern Mississippi:

NWS posted that report at 10:10EST
Thank you for that information. I will send it on to the eldest who is still at work trying to manage I am pretty sure. Hopefully it will give them some idea of the scope of things around them : /
God bless.
Tatt
For the record, the National Weather Service called us to notify there was a tornado warning
Oh...OK...duh!
I have tried in vain to get coverage of this on any cable station- other than a brief mention at the top of hour- zip, nada, nothing. From what I can gather they’re all hyperventilating over Trump and the birth certificate and racism.
IF this were taking place in the northeast or Illinois, the coverage would be wall to wall.
The South..doesn’t matter. Unless it’s NOLA.
It seems Dr. Forbes has been mentioning every imaginable color tonight when analyzing the doppler, so I can see where you’re coming from. :-)
In response to your Alabama Power post, TVA’s storm information (a little short on numbers, but they’ve got a boatload of damage also):

Oh no.
Same here. It is getting closer now.

Awful! I imagine people ran into those buildings to take shelter.
God help them all and all who love them.
Well...I made myself chuckle a little in the midst of all this. Gray Doppler...indeed!
GA Forsyth County—but I know where NC Forsyth County is. :)
Clanton- on the ground rte 22 towards east- Rockford
We also have family in Calhoun.
Praying for them all.
Storms kill 54 around South, including 40 in Ala (per Yahoo)
For the record, I have learned the colors to fear are magenta and black.
We are seeing bigtime black and magenta cells. They indicate the areas of high intensity and rotation
They are also showing different radar colors for hail. white is 2’+ and pink is next size down. Just north about 5 miles there was quarter size and when it moved about 15 miles northeast the size was golfball The white generally occurs in areas that are black on the other radar view
We were in the white / pink but the few pieces were dime size
whoa- from the time I posted that the total went up to 64 deaths.
Calhoun Cty sending info- situation very serious per twitter.
Prayers for your family.
AccuWeather forums have some links to blogs with mind-numbing photos...not sure why the media can’t seem to find them. There is an UNCOMFIRMED tweet about the Tuscaloosa death toll that I hope is terribly overstated.
