HARTFORD Until Tuesday afternoon, the future was looking grim for Mariano Cardoso Jr.
Brought to this country illegally by his parents when he was a baby, the 23-year-old Capital Community College student was facing imminent deportation to Mexico, a country he did not know.
But while at school Tuesday, Cardoso got a call from Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Connecticut, telling him that federal immigration officials had granted a rare stay of deportation and that in all probability he will be able to remain in the U.S. indefinitely.

NO to DREAM ACT today, and forever. NO to VOTING rights for any illegal alien who broke America's laws before they were even made legal.

I don’t have a problem with this.
He has never lived in Mexico, it is not his home- to send him there now would be bad for him.
This particular case is a problem ONLY because for the last 30 years WE DID NOT ENFORCE the law.
In fact I would go so far as to say the real problem here is suddenly trying to enforce the law after 30 years of failing to do so.
We have to address the issue of what to do with people we ignored, like illegals who have never known their home country, or people who have lived here for 20 years and have a good job and house.
But the people who came last year and went right onto welfare? SHIP ‘EM HOME NOW~! HOW DO ILLEGALS GET WELFARE?????

I am not so hard nosed as you. I DO NOT want illegal aliens who are here and do not want to assimilate. However, this person sounds like he has become an American and has assimilated into the culture.

I dont have a problem with this.
I don't either. I have a hard time finding the mens rea of a 22-month-old baby. The guy seems like a serious student and likely the kind of person we out to welcome to the states.
But if he is not already naturalized, now is the time. It would be a great gesture of his faith in this country.

Undocumented, eh? Obama BC redux.
I wonder if any of us undocumented or without a driver’s license or a fake one would fare? We would be in jail. Why do these people keep prancing around? Who protects them?

Mexico, a country he did not know. Yeah right. That stupid claim alone should get him deported. Or, if true, it's about time he did!

NO to DREAM ACT today, and forever. NO to VOTING rights for any illegal alien who broke America's laws before they were even made legal. I keep suggesting that any person who can be shown to ever have been in the US illegally cannot ever obtain citizenship. And if that doesn't cut down on illegal immigration, extend it out to immediate relatives. I.e., if a parent, child, or sibling has ever been in the US illegally, then citizenship can never be conferred.

You guys are acting like a bunch of bleeding hearts. The law is the law and this guy broke the law when he CAME TO THE UNITED STATES OF HIS OWN FREE WILL
If he willingly broke the law before he was even two years old who knows what else he's capable of. What a monster.
I swear to God, this zero-tolerance crap is going to be the death of this country. This kid didn't jump the fence on his own. He hasn't gotten in trouble. He's kicking ass in school. Let him stay.
If the American dream dies, it'll have been Americans who killed it.

However, this person sounds like he has become an American and has assimilated into the culture. He's not 22 months now. He's been a legal adult for FIVE YEARS.
In those FIVE YEARS, what did he do? He hid out. He didn't step up.
22 months old? Not culpable for his parents' action. He's 23 now.
He should be deported and take his parents with him.

Let's see. In those five years he finished high school and went to college. What an ingrate he is. Working hard in school instead of mowing your lawn.

Yup - agreed. These are nothing more than undocumented DEMONRATS. They will vote with the RAT party 95% of time. No amount of crossing the aisle and striking bipartisanship deals for âCOMPRENSIVEâ immigration reform will ever produce one vote for the GOP. Get over it Republicans - many of these illegals are here for the bennies, even though they always denounce this when it is brought up. “Free” BENNIES are what the RAT party is known for - the PARTY of food stamps and victim hood. The larger the RATS can grow this base the better their chances of winning elections - that is my single most reason for denying illegal aliens the right to vote - EVER. If we want to make them “legal” so be it - but NEVER EVER ALLOW THEM TO VOTE.
