ANOTHER day of deadly weather possible. IIRC the severe weather started last Thursday.
Priority 1 now is to cut the damn pine trees out of the front yard,
Priority 2 is to get a genset.
next is to get a F5 proof shelter built.
Sounds like a plan. Stay safe.
Was quite amazed at the F-4 tornado in Bridgeton, MO. Property destruction but no deaths. Killing is what F-4s do...
Sounds frightening. What’s going on there now?
Keep watch today in Little Rock...the southern portion of Pulaski Co. is under a High Risk and a Moderate Risk for points north.
Yes...if you have an EF4 with no deaths...it’s a good day!
Looks like we'll have to hunker down again today.
If you can't appreciate the pure beauty of the violin after hearing this, something's wrong with your ears.I did a bunch of tree work 2-1/2 years ago and missed one pine that is just outside my back fence (but still on my property). The rest are gone. I’m still kicking myself over missing that one. I bet it wouldn’t have cost me an incremental $100, it was quite an operation. Southern yellow pine is a bane on residential lots.
Good luck out there, be safe!
I was tracking that storm on radar last night...it could have been much worse (i.e. Vilonia, AR)
I thought our weather last Tuesday in central Arkansas was bad enough, we had two funnels go over us and lost several trees, but yesterday was even worse. There were funnels reported everywhere. Son-in-law’s grandparents hid in their closet with 2 young grandchildren as one tornado and large trees destroyed their house. Thanksfully they came out unharmed. Vilonia basically got wiped out and Hot Springs Village suffered big damage. And yesterday we were just in a moderate risk. Today is suppose to be a HIGH risk. One gets to feeling everytime another outbreak occurs that your luck of dodging all the tornadoes is bound to run out.
Local news is reporting Vilonia path of destruction is up to three miles wide. I've never heard of anything greater than one and a half miles wide. Either one super monster EF-5 or several smaller ones all together. Unimaginable.
Wow! Thank G-d that everyone came out safe!
I heard that report...the largest tornado (official) is ~ 2 miles wide in Nebraska. Will wait to see if the Little Rock NWS confirms it at 3 miles.

Today's Tornado Outlook
Got rid of every pine tree on our property a few years ago. About 10 of them. Then we approached a neighbor, who has about 20 pine trees, about one that was about 2 feet from the property line. Asked him if he would let me have it cut down because it was huge and we were afraid that high winds might topple it on to our house. He agreed to letting me have it removed.
The best radar map I’ve found so far is:
http://www.intellicast.com/Local/WxMapFull.aspx
You can zoom in and out, identify cell track directions, look at cloud cover and a lot of other stuff.
Does anyone know of any other radars that are good?
I flew through the northern end of this storm system yesterday on a cross-country flight. I still have the marks in my arm from where my wife was grabbing me as the plane bounced around like a pinball for a few minutes!
Trust me, if it was as violent at ground level as it was at 30,000 feet, I feel real sorry for anyone in its path!
