While there is a stigma and disdain for those only admitted into an Ivy League school because of affirmative action; WHY is there not a similar stigma attached to being admitted only because you are a “legacy” admission?

George W. Bush was a horrible student as well, and would NEVER have gone to Yale and Harvard without the direct benefit that being his father's son brought to him in the eyes of the admissions committee.

To me a “legacy” admission is even more an indication that you are a lackwit lackluster idiot - born with all the advantages that wealth can bring - and your idiot self STILL needed a bit of extra help.

This has nothing to do with AA. It's all about secrecy.

Hmmm . . . I’m thinking about what you said. Which is worse, a legacy admission or an AA admission? Both are wrong, probably, because that’s giving preferential treatment due to factors out of one’s control.

Bush DID release his academic records though.

IIRC, Bush at least had decent SAT scores - over 1200 combined, and that was before they were inflated. It’s true that a 1200 was probably low for Yale admittance.

I bet Obama’s were under 1000.

I was gonna bring up the same point. Kerry was even worse than Bush at Yale. It’s all who you know.

Try again, Bush came from the finest schools in America and smoked his SAT and GMAT scores. His dad was a House Rep from TX at the time who had no pull.

Don’t believe everything the commiedia reports. I read this from a book by an author who hated him.

Pray for America

Well Bush did get his MBA and that is an accomplishment.
If Bush had been a marginal graduate student I guarantee that liberal B-School profs would have found a reason to dump. Bush must have done well enough that he didn't supply them with a reason. Bush probably enjoyed Yale undergraduate life a little too much. I have seen undergraduate records like that before, and seen such people have outstanding graduate records. Sometimes all it takes is to wake up and realize the party is indeed over, graduate school is now for the “marbles”. Remember Gore flunked out of two graduate programs, divinity school & law school! (Technically he left law school before he was kicked out due to grades!) Now Zero hard to say how he went from bad student to magna cum laude, I guess he could have buckled down and produced. But where is the evidence? There is as much evidence he got the academic award for being black as there is evidence he earned it!

The difference is that George W. Bush released his records, and never made any claims to be a good student. Legacy students have been accepted at Harvard and Yale since the beginning.

All we've heard from the MSM since Obama announced his candidacy is how brilliant he is, though as far as I know, no one has ever seen his school records. They've also written and talked about how wonderful his time at Harvard was, being the Editor of the Harvard Law Review, and all. The fact that he never wrote ONE THING for the publication seems to have slipped their collective mind.

Ivy's & most private universities don't accept solely based on grades.

They recruit based on "diversity"...
