Mass graves in Mexico reveal new levels of savagery
The Washington Post ^ | April 24 | Nick Miroff and William Booth

SAN FERNANDO, Mexico — At the largest mass grave site ever found in Mexico, where 177 bodies have been pulled from deep pits, authorities say they have recovered few bullet casings and little evidence that the dead were killed with a gun.

Instead, most died of blunt force trauma to the head, and a sledgehammer found at the crime scene this month is believed to have been used in the executions, according to Mexican investigators and state officials. The search continued Sunday, with state officials warning they expect the count to rise.

They say as many as 122 of the victims were passengers dragged off buses at drug cartel roadblocks on the major highway to the United States.

The mass killings of civilians at isolated ranches 90 minutes south of the Texas border mark a new level of barbarity in Mexico’s four-year U.S.-backed drug war.

As forensic teams and Mexican marines dig through deeper and darker layers here, the buried secrets in San Fernando are challenging President Felipe Calderon’s assertions that his government is winning the war and is in control of Mexico’s cities and roads.

La Cosa Nostra was in for the long run, that’s why they even shunned drugs, well the ‘old guard.’ Plus, any deviation meant certain death. These Mexicans mentioned here are just thugs, and probably organized only at the local level. It makes no sense to to do all that terror for $10K, for example, when you can make that much with a kilo of cocaine. Unless they do it to scare the state in submission or to make some extra cash on the side.

“Just when I thought it could not get any worse.”

It is worse than any of us realize. According top blogdelnarco.com children are now being killed on purpose. There are large sections of Mexico where the journalists and the army don’t go. The cartels control the roads and use roadblocks to take young men off of busses. Maybe they are conscripting military age males to join thier “armies.”

Obviously these bad guys need to get the phone number to the ATF so that they can get their hands on some American firearms and stop using those hammers.

The illegal drug business is one of the three largest businesses in the United States. Police, politicians, judges, military, Federal prosecutors, and others are all on the payroll which runs into billions. This is why nothing is done. There is evidence that Clinton was on their payroll at one time and may still be. Bush is not without guilt either. The great ship United States is down by the bow and does not answer the helm. Way God have mercy on the remnants.

“This is why nothing is done.”

A bit over-broad.

18,000 Border Patrol Agents are working very hard to stop drug smugglers. . . and at great personal risk.

I had a fishing trip scheduled last year, sent a Discover check for a substantial deposit and found out the captain was murdered and the boat blown up. Canceled the trip.

Anyone know about travel to San Louis Potosi?
I may have to go there for work!
The state department recommends against it.
It’s nothing but a hell hole south of the border!

Yet not so much as a PEEP about trying to get people to stop using illegal drugs in this country!

Have you been living in a cave? We spend billions every year trying to do just that. We gave cabinet level priority to the drug czar in 1989 with the creation of the ONDCP.

What have we got to show for it? How about zip, nada and nothing.

“It isn’t just the brutality and the number of victims, it is the sadistic methods employed for maximum effect on their enemies.”

Unless the word gets out widely about who did it to whom there is little if any effect. Right now it’s just a bunch of unsolved mass murders with the perps getting no propaganda boost which is why they did these murders in the first place.

On Thursday, Mexican authorities arrested the police chief in San Fernando, and 16 of the department’s 25 officers are now in custody, suspected of working for the Zetas to help the gang kidnap, kill and bury their victims.

Realistically, the last time I heard a President actually speak out against drug use was Ronald Reagan.

Bush #1 - a few quick mentions

Clinton - nothing

Bush #2 - a brief mention about efforts at the boarder

Zero - nothing

The last time I remember any President saying directly to the American people, “hey you dumb-asses, your "hobby" is the cause of all this, why don't you stop this nonsense” was Reagan.

And in NONE of the discussions about our gun laws being the cause did I hear ANYBODY stand up and say, "no it isn't, it is our buying the dam garbage that provides the dollars."

I don’t know what browser you are using but GOOGLE Chrome will translate it for you. You may have to go into preferences and check the offer to translate. I very seldom use Chrome but when I do it is for this purpose.
