Like most people, I enjoy a good joke. But Donald Trump for president? With apologies to Karl Rove, it's not really that funny.
The Trump candidacy is not a joke; it's a scam. But its success with millions of voters shows us we are a nation very susceptible to scams if they are done on a grand enough scale......
In Donald Trump we have a liberal billionaire with a long record of supporting Democratic candidates who is willing to spend unlimited amounts of money to reinvent himself as a populist conservative. Ordinarily, that would be an impossible, even laughable undertaking. Yet Trump is doing well in the polls. Evidently, a lot of people are buying his snake oil.
A cynic might suggest the fact that Trump has filed for bankruptcy three times and then rebuilt a real-estate empire has some attraction for citizens of a country with mounting trillions in public debt. However, we have yet to hear Trump ask Social Security retirees to take 30 cents on the dollar in promised benefits. He has recently attacked Rep. Paul Ryan's proposed Medicare reform, saying Republicans should avoid that issue.
There are at least three big obstacles to a Trump nomination in Tampa in August of 2012. The first two obstacles are Trump's record and Trump's ego. Trump doesn't have the self-discipline to "stay on message," often reverting to the leftist ideas he has absorbed from the New York Times and Manhattan cocktail parties. He recently admonished Republicans to "rethink" opposition to a single-payer health-care system "like the one that works so well for Canadians."
On policy matters, Trump's record makes him about as credible as a conservative candidate as I would be running for the presidency of the Council of American-Islamic Relations.

I am also confused by the Conservaive tendency to self destruct.
Let’s hope that America will heed your advice. It makes sense. Which is what concerns me most. America no longer makes much sense.
tanks! :)
You know what's funny? Large numbers of blacks didn't vote for Jesse Jackson in 1988 and they didn't vote for Al Sharpton in 2008, yet they certainly did vote for Obama. Were Jesse and Al "too black" or something? Obama's mama was white, no matter who his daddy was.
The courts have repeatedly failed by not, at their own discretion, giving status to citizens challenging any aspect of the ineligibility of Obama. So with this in place ‘we the people’ must broadcast by every means with every fact available that there is a usurper in the White House being enabled by some persons known and some unknown to us. I say there should be no rationing of peoples opinions/facts.
It’s not just a tendancy to self destruct but a necessity to destroy anybody who doesn’t agree with your single issue.
He Has Risen
It seems it's the RINOS among us who disparage Trump.
PREVENTING AMNESTY.
Going up against no less then the deranged Bush family desperate to turn the U.S. into a Mexican oligarchy, McCain the Mexichurian Candidate, and the entire America hating Democratic Party, Communists all.
And through it all Tancredo hasn't backed down.
He deserves a rest, but not condemnation. At this point, he's saved the Republican Party from itself too many times. That alone would be accomplishment enough. But at this point in history we still have a chance to prevent the Mexicanization of the West, and he shares a great deal of the credit.
But now it's up to us.
Farah posts a wide variety of viewpoints, including hard-line leftist viewpoints.
Trump has an ability to end run the media and get his message across without excessive media filtering in a negative way
Yup Trump knows how to market himself to investors. His typical projects are only 20% Trump money. Investors get on board due to the Trump name. Notice how often "Trump" in on the buildings, hotels and casinos
So now The Donald will be marketing himself to the voters
Need to break the spell first in order for people to start to hear the issues.
#1 This is a psych. war. The Obama machine and Democrats have controlled the narrative (as you said)
#2 Trump breaks the spell by pounding away on the birth certificate and Bammy Boy's fisrt book written by Bill Ayers. That book got him in the White House. Americans were in awe of this genius of color. Donald has to widen and keep up the personal attacks. Right now the White House is digging up all the dirt they can find get on Trump and will feed it to media and Democrat surrogates
Right now they are stunned and have not responded to Donald's trashing and denigration of their messiah-boy-god
Did you see what happend in our Governors race?
The Tea Party guy was a joke and a con-man, a disaster of Biblical proportions. Tancredo was the only conservtive choice, and given the very short weeks long campaign he did very well.
Needless to say the hard-line Liberal won.
Who did you vote for in 2008?
“Tom Tancredo calling any candidate a joke wins the irony of the day award.”
I agree with you.

And if Republicans ignore the simmering populist sentiment amongst those struggling to fill up their gas tanks in America in favor of pure but impractical ideals, we may as write our 2012 epitaph right now. Wake up!
Who did I vote for - - in what 2008 election?
I voted for all Republicans and wrote in Sarah Palin.
McCain is worse than Obama...
The real Obama would never get elected without the gate keepers, MSM, Axelrods and the teleprompter
McCain worse than Obama?
Yeah, I would find it hard to argue otherwise.
