When I lived in W. TX as a kid, these lizards were the payload for our Estes rockets. We learned about the asbestos wadding needed after launching the rocket, engine blew the nose cone off, but welded the plastic parachute to the lizard.
We had no shortage of alternate payloads. They’re everywhere.
It’s not about the lizard; etc. They would squash it if they saw one. It’s about the power to destroy.
