A transgender woman beaten at a Baltimore County McDonald's spoke out on Saturday, saying that the attack was "definitely a hate crime" and that she's been afraid to go out in public ever since.
"They said, 'That's a dude, that's a dude and she's in the female bathroom,' " said Chrissy Lee Polis, 22, who said she stopped at the Rosedale restaurant to use the restroom. "They spit in my face."
A worker at the restaurant taped Monday's attack and created a graphic video that went viral last week. After the video garnered hundreds of thousands of views on websites, McDonald's issued a statement condemning the incident, and on Saturday the worker who taped the incident was fired.
The video shows two females — one of them a 14-year-old girl — repeatedly kicking and punching Polis in the head as an employee and a patron try to intervene. Others can be heard laughing, and men are seen standing idly by.
....Her twin brother, Matty Polis, who also lives in Baltimore, said it's been painful to watch her have to endure these sorts of attacks.
"My sister has gotten this her entire life," Matty Polis said. "Being the way she is, she's always had a hard time."
Polis, who was raised by her grandmother in Dundalk and Essex, graduated from Chesapeake High and hasn't had a job or stable place to stay for the past two years, according to her mother, Angela Thomas.
Polis, who is white, believes race may have also been a factor in her attack— both the assailants were black, according to the police report.
Equality Maryland has called on state Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler to step in and investigate the case as a hate crime.

Nicely stated and I couldn't agree more. There's a guy in our community who was a body builder...then decided to have a sex change. You can imagine taking all that mass he built up and now trying to feminize his features. He looks beyond ridiculous and no wonder some call them freaks...he is so out of the norm and all brought about by his choices.

That will be a messy place and disease prone more than others. Some stores have closed male bathrooms/dressing rooms becuase the stench and use of these for quick sexual encounters.
He’s so messed up, easily seen and heard in his video, and admittedly had other dealings as this, of course. Doesn’t have a job or home of his own. I would not be surprised if he pimps himself out and likely has either become accustomed to mistreatment or has a degree of enjoyment from this.
I couldn’t help but notice his greatest concern seemed to be the removal of his hairpiece...and we see him clutching to his head and straightening his hair from the begining.
In the video where he spoke he did not seem to be upset as a woman might have been...not even close, and it didnt take him long to have a say in the matter. So he’ll be milking the media and the courts as this thing esculates and the various groups get their say in the matter.
Odd too that he mentioned frequently “seizures’ as if this was a word he is most familiar with. He said he knew he could have one....and then he did. Hummm-mmm...sounds fishy to me.....there is really much more to this then has been reported thus far.

On the second page fourth paragraph of the police report (comment#53 has the link), the second victim was interviewed and had evidence of being hit in the face.

Wise to do so and I think most sane people understand there are simply places you just don't go. When traveling you also generally plan for "pit stops" in safe areas as well.
I've never had a problem stopping at McDonalds's and think it's ridiculous to blame the business. They cannot control the behavior of others. And yes many businesses do not want their employees to get involved, but to call the police.
However in this case it does seem the staff wasn't doing much to discourage this from esculating. But it is known you touch a "customer" you're likely in for a lawsuit. It's a danged if you do danged if you don't.

This is an instance where Sarah Palin’s admonishment that the “GOP needs to learn to fight like a girl” could be paraphrased. It was a tough situation. According to the laws in my state I cannot pull out my Public Defender and shoot to prevent a robbery or assault on another person. Now if I “fear for my life” it’s a different story. If those big gals were coming at me I guess I would fear for my life.
