Let's see now. On one hand, you have a Naval Academy graduate and captain (0-6) of a guided missile cruiser who is so inept and sadistically cruel to her crew she is relieved of command despite being a female in the age of "political correctness." Investigation shows she physically assaulted not one, but two subordinate officers on two separate occasions, and also contributed to millions of dollars in damage to ships unfortunately under her command.
On the other, we have a senior chief petty officer (E-8) on the aircraft carrier USS George H. W. Bush who is convicted at court-martial of throwing lower grades into lockers, wrestling and horseplay (stapling skin, grabbing junior sailors in a headlock) and soliciting a $1000 loan from a lower-ranking petty officer. He gets six months in the brig plus a bust in rank all the way down to E-4.
What's the difference here? Holly Graf is a ring knocker from Annapolis with a "big sister" admiral and strong support from "The Sisterhood" (you know who they are) at the Pentagon. Kevin Curtis is a dim-witted bully who never should have made E-8 in the first place. But he's an enlisted man. And there is your answer. The egregious double-standard of "justice" in today's Navy. As obvious as an 800-pound gorilla parked right in the middle of your living room.
GRAF (OFFICER) GETS SLAP-ON-WRIST WHILE CURTIS (ENLISTED) IS HAMMERED
As you read this, the arrogant and extremely obnoxious Graf (who we suspect writes our pal Susan Katz Keating as "anonymous" (www.susankatzkeating.com), is sucking up 0-6 pay while appealing the "slap-on-the-wrist" the gutless Navy retention board gave her a few months ago. In her deluded mind, the SEA HAG feels she is somehow a "victim." But then, the "female Capt. Bligh" probably counted strawberries on board ship and rolled marbles in her hand when she wasn't spewing profanity at anyone unfortunate enough to serve under her at sea.
What is worse? Throwing hard objects at officer's heads and grabbing them by the throat in a choking motion, or what Curtis claimed was harmless "horseplay" and rough-housing, not unknown aboard U.S. Naval vessels since the time of John Paul Jones.
We have no complaint with the punishment meted out to the former senior chief. He should have known better and deserved to be busted. But so does Graf. By giving her a free pass, she becomes even more insufferable. What is our Navy coming to when a male Academy graduate and outstanding officer has a lapse in judgment and participates in "off-color" on-board videos, losing his military career, while Graf can run aground destroyers, hit whales on the high seas, order logs to be falsified, and insult officers of foreign navys with impunity?
Such favored treatment and unequal "justice" does terrible damage to morale. But does Gates or the secretary of the Navy care?
The people who really should pay for creating such a monster as Graf are the PC-castrated officers who wrote up fictional FITREPS on the screaming shrew. They knew they were lying, but cowardly didn't call her on her misconduct because it was so much easier to "go along." Each one of them ought to be brought up on charges, but that will only happen when pigs fly through the sky.

Since BJ Clinton was president I could never understand why someone would consider a career in the military. I could see signing up for school money, training, or even just for a job; I don’t see staying there past a few years. While our military personnel serve and sacrifice, I find no evidence that they are serving our country as intended, but rather someone else’s agenda. These stories bear that out; it has become a social experiment rather than as truly effective as it should be.

While both engaged in physical assaults, the Petty Officer also engaged in extorting money from a subordinate. The raises the bar considerably.
On the other hand, the falsification of a log is unforgivable.
As far as running running a destroyer aground ..... well ...... the future Admiral Chester Nimitz ran the USS Decatur aground in 1907.
Sad to say, the Navy has become the military standard bearer for wimpy political correctness. The Army and Air Force are not far behind.
And to the MARINES (all caps intended), this USAF pilot salutes you.
