The group collecting signatures to recall Wisconsin State Democrat Senator Jim Holperin (http://recalljim.com) has announced that they have more than enough signatures to force a recall election.
They needed at least 16,000. They have 23,300.
Can you give us a box score on number of Republican vs. Democratic recall efforts and status?
Keep in mind that we may need some help protecting our governor in Michigan. Citizens United has gotten the go ahead to collect signatures for a recall of Rick Snyder.

I think the number of possible recalls is about the same, 4 DEM, 3 GOP; or the reverse, 4 GOP, 3 DEM - and it is expected that sufficient signatures will be filed to have all of those recall elections.
Pennsylvania had a problem with law makers about five six years ago when the law makers gave themselves a raise in the “middle of the night”. What we did was the next election they all were voted out. It was rather amazing to be honest. The great thing about this was that it did not cost the state a penny. This is costing Wisconsin a ton of money especially since some elections will have to hold recounts. I see Wisconsin raising taxes in a few years due to this. Hopefully I am wrong for those who live there especially fellow FRiends but this does not seem the best way to do this IMHO.
The Democrats will have state employees working overtime to invalidate at least 7,301 signatures.
Looking at the bright side, the Republicans probably have many more responsible signers in district that the Dem side, who probably had a lot of out-of-staters sign during the protests. A LOT more of those will be disqualified than on the Democrat recall petition.
I’m still predicting a 2 to 3 seat net gain for Republicans - and they only need 1 to completely sink the Fleebagger “strategy.” This is assuming Republicans can get all 8 Dem senators on the recall referendum.
Same here in Wisconsin. The left is planning a massive “Swarm” operation with 10,000+ paid employees, plus volunteers in Madison and Milwaukee, to blitz the state beginning on Jan 3rd, 2012. In 2-3 weeks, they plan to collect 500,000 signatures. The Democratic Party of Wisconsin and DNC are already collecting information in preparation for the recall drive.
They’ve got to get 800,000 to recall Snyder in Michigan. I don’t think they’re counting on people like myself who didn’t like Rick Snyder before the election but like him a lot more now.
You can be sure of that. The communists workers in WI government are working hard to keep as much of their kind in power as they can. America is saturated with communists thugs who have union ties.

One encouraging sign: My mother normally votes Republican, but has always crossed parties to vote for Holperin, because she thought he was a good man and cared about his constituents. However, after seeing him run away to Illinois, she is so angry that she eagerly signed the recall petition and will never vote for a Democrat again.
I haven't seen anything in the press about this change in attitude, but I'll bet is fairly common. Even people who might not agree with the new law may (will?) find the "fleabag" tactics of the Dems unacceptable.
It’s a fairly rural district; I’m somewhat surprised they got as many as they did.
If the bureaucrats are going to conduct a crooked validation, you’re going to lose no matter what. In Michigan, they do a sample as I recall (so they don’t check all 23000 signatures, only a fraction of them and prorate).
How expensive is it to hold an election (as a proportion of state government expenses overall)? I really don’t know.
The way I read the Wisconsin Constitution (http://legis.wisconsin.gov/rsb/unannotated_wisconst.pdf),
if there are a sufficient number of valid signatures, the recall primary is automatically held. The greater challenge might be insuring that there is a candidate to challenge the incumbent — I couldn’t find if that was by fee or by signatures or what.
