Gary Johnson announces presidential run
CBS News ^ | 4/21/2011 | Stephanie Condon

Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson announced today that he's running for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

"I'm ready for a different America," Johnson said in a statement today. "I'm ready for the day when a person can build a good life on a decent income, and we can take our government at its word."

Johnson announced his candidacy Thursday morning on the steps of the New Hampshire State House and plans to spend three days in the early-nominating state meeting with supporters and visiting local businesses.

He’s pro abortion and favors legalizing marijuana.

Well, THAT makes the decision simple: He's DOA.

If the local and State-level GOP orgs had any brains at all, they'd just say, "You wanna run as a Republican, and you espouse WHAT? Hell no!"

They don't.

So, ask me again why I'm registered "Non-partisan" in CA.

Politically he is a libertarian. I don’t know why he considers running in the GOP primary.

It is barbaric to take an innocent person’s life for the sins of another person, in this case their father.

What is so hard to understand about that?

Do you understand the meaning of the word “unalienable”?

: incapable of being alienated, surrendered, or transferred

Our form of government, and our claim to liberty in a free republic, is premised on God-given, equal, unalienable rights, starting with the right to life. The founders stated quite clearly that such is the very reason for the existence of government.

Please help me understand here. A woman gets raped. You feel that she shouldn’t be able to take a pill the next day to make sure she doesn’t get pregnant?

If one of the degenerates who spawned you stole from me should I get to kill you?

So.

Let's call Leo Farnsworth misinformed because he cautioned conservative zealots against referring to abortion as: KILLING CHILDREN.

What a horrible beast I am.

To those of you who would not vote for a presidential candidate running against Obama if he was pro choice: WEAR THE CONSERVATIVE ZEALOT badge happily.

If America suffers because of your vote (rather, lack thereof) - take great pride in knowing you helped a Marxist win a second term

Proud we are of all of you...

Pretty lame defense of sacrificing our most important principles on the altar of political expedience.

I think some people actually, somehow, make a living running for office - win or lose. There is probably some money that this guy can milk from the GOP for his own benefit. Maybe not so much money to run as a Libertarian.

Hell, you may as well put my name on there, I've been called a lot worse around here and a whole lot worse on the anti-FReeper sites.

Ah. Okay. Well, so far, I’m out of luck, I guess (if that’s what I should call it).

There is no reasoning with zealotry.

Shame on you for your egregiousness is muddling this discussion.

You really should be vastly ashamed of yourself.

Have you no reason?

Are you completely arrogant?

Explain why I should EVER compassionately pay attention to any of your viewpoints when I have on multiple occasions stated that WE ARE ON THE SAME SIDE OF THIS ARGUMENT?

You make a jest out of my passion for trying to help US win a significant battle.

You are but a child.

And a child that is a butt.

Maybe the GOP needs to realize that they will lose if they throw the pro-lifers under the bus.

They say they can't win with us, then try winning without us.

It is time for moderate republicans to hold their nose and vote. We have done it ENOUGH!

You like me are against abortion. Period.

Where we differ,is in special cases like rape. I think a woman should have the right to take a pill to prevent her from being pregnant.

I think you’re being dogmatic. Consider the woman who’s been raped. There isn’t any Scripture verse to support she must carry that miscreant’s seed. None.

Seriously, would you expect a woman you love to go through with that “type” of pregnancy?

In medical terms, an abortion is spontaneous and “natural.” We usually call that “miscarriage” in common parlance.

What we euphemistically call “abortion” is the willful taking of the life of an innocent person, by extremely violent means.

Word games are one of the primary tools that have allowed the butchering of more than fifty million innocent human beings over the last thirty-eight years in this country.

I’m sorry you can’t handle the truth, spoken plainly.

That’s a flaccid argument.

Nobody is talking about LIVE children. Seriously.

We’re talking about taking a pill within a week or two after the rape.
