Gay Marriage Opponents Now in ZOT
FiveThirtyEight ^ | 4-20-11 | Nate Silver

Posted on 04/21/2011 4:42:01 AM PDT by technonerd

A poll from CNN this week is the latest to show a majority of Americans in favor of same-sex marriage, with 51 percent saying that marriages between gay and lesbian couples “should be recognized by the law as valid” and 47 percent opposed.

This is the fourth credible poll in the past eight months to show an outright majority of Americans in favor of gay marriage....

As we noted last August, support for gay marriage seems to have been increasing at an accelerated pace over the past couple of years. Below is an update to the graph from last year’s article, which charts the trend from all available public polls on same-sex marriage going back to 1988.

...Both the California and Maine results were close, and because opinion is shifting so quickly on the issue, the outcomes would probably be different if they were voted on again today....

But Republican candidates, who have placed less emphasis on gay marriage in recent years, probably cannot expect their opposition to it to be a net electoral positive for them except in select circumstances. If support for gay marriage were to continue accelerating as fast as it has in the past two years, supporters would outnumber opponents roughly 56-40 in the general population by November 2012....

One way to read the trends of the past few years is that we have passed an inflection point wherein it is no longer politically advantageous for candidates to oppose same-sex marriage, which in turn softens opposition to it among the general public, creating a sort of feedback loop and accelerating the trend.

Governments have set wages and prices by edict since at least the time of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. That's a bad idea, too.

You're an anarchist, I get it.

Do you realize that this is a CONSERVATIVE forum and that the owner DOES NOT allow the homosexual agenda to be advance here?

Do you realize that you have NO RIGHT to advance your belief in homosexual marriage here?

Whenever the left wants to advance their evil agenda they do a poll and then push the belief that something is right because they were able to get the majority of people to go along with it.

Today is Good Friday, the forces of evil used polls two thousand years ago too.

Funny they should continue to push these lying polls. Everywhere in the country, even in what are reputedly the most “liberal” states, whenever these questions have reached the ballot, we have won. Every time. More than thirty times, in fact.

At the last election we the people here in Iowa had our chance to express our will. We threw three of the judges who imposed this immoral policy on us out on their black-robed rears.

And yesterday, our best five state representatives filed articles of impeachment on the remaining four.

Gay marriage is supported mostly among the young, whihc makes sense because gay marriage is only promoted through popular culture and public education.

But people's attitude's change as they get older.

They’re lying.

Just trying to level the playing field. They could never advance their agenda if they told the truth.

Even here in Massachusetts the left can only keep homosexual “marriage” alive illegally. If we were allowed to vote it would be gone.

Exactly!

They couldn't even get this through on the ballot in California in 2008. Now, the left tried to somehow blame it on the Mormons, but the facts don't hold up:

2008 California Presidential Results: 13,743,177 votes were cast and Obama received 61.01% of the votes.

2008 California Proposition 8 (defining marriage as between man and woman) Results: 13,743,177 votes were cast and 52.24% voted in favor of it.

This means that millions of people voted for Obama and also voted to define marriage as being between a man and a woman. This means that even on the left there is strong opposition to homosexual marriage.

If this were true, advocates of same sex marriage would be trying to get it on the ballot. They aren’t. Why do you suppose that is?

Apparently not, judging from the last wave of responses....

Like I said many have been coditioned to think that a piece of paper from the state determines if one is married or not. Just like state involvement in charity and education, it usurpes the role of faith, at least in modern times.

Another point is that the pro-life movement is really growing among young people. I think the same will happen with the “gay is good” lie. People will wake up, the more they see and find the truth about homosexual life and agenda. And more and more kids are homeschooled, too.

It’s government “entanglements” in the form of judges with the occasional legislature forcing faggot “marriage” on people who, time after time, prove that they do not want it.

Polls are invariably inaccurate. I used to get Zogby polls emailed to me, and they got worse and worse. There was no way on earth to answer truthfully. And many are worse than Zogby.
