Mark Levin On ‘Airhead’ Donald Trump: ‘Does This Guy Sound Stupid Or What?’

by Matt Schneider | 1:44 pm, April 20th, 2011

The conservative claws are coming out for potential Republican candidate for President Donald Trump. Not only has Congresswoman Michele Bachmann declared the story with President Obama’s birth certificate is “over,” but now radio host Mark Levin is tearing Trump apart on his other favorite issues. Comparing Trump’s thinking to President Herbert Hoover, Levin does not mince words for the man he sarcastically refers to as “our new conservative hero.”

What prompted Levin’s outrage was Trump failing to defend Republican Congressman Paul Ryan’s budget. Levin played a clip of Trump on NBC vowing to always protect Medicare for senior citizens and saying “I think Paul Ryan is too far out front with this issue, I think he ought to sit back and relax.” When Trump instead suggests the budget problems could be fixed by taking on China and OPEC, Levin stops the clip and angrily yells “What the hell does that have to do with Medicare? Does this guy sound stupid or what?” Levin is outraged over Trump not having any idea about Medicare and demanded to know why “when Medicare is going to collapse Mr. Businessman” you want Paul Ryan to sit back and relax?

Levin was on fire as he provided a series of arguments to discredit nearly every perceived benefit of a Trump candidacy. Suggesting Trump’s proposal for a tariff on goods from China is as horrible of an idea as many of Trump’s other past positions, Levin said even if “all your supporters are going to give you a pass on every damn thing you’ve ever said or done” Levin will not be along for the ride. And in his final parting shot, since Trump repeatedly argues his success as a businessman would make him a great President, Levin humorously concludes, “if I follow your logic, Bill Gates ought to be President of the United States because he’s worth ten times what you are too, and yet when it comes to economics and government he’s an airhead just like you.”

Trump, is a flim-flamming, wheeler-dealer; and he's ROSS PEROT II!

Yes Indeed, and therein lies the rub. My initial thought was that Trump, while nothing to do with conservatism would serve as a useful idiot for our cause. Unfortunately he can pull a Perot and destroy us in the election so....
Pick your poison.

Wrong!

Germany is. About 70% of Libya’s production goes to western europe.

“Well don’t wait for Levin to deal with it, because he’s just a Constitutional lawyer, of what constitution? Not sure.”

Bwahhaa.

Maybe he can write a book about liberty and tyranny. Maybe some kind of conservative manifesto.

Why is that a problem? It seems like you’re saying I can’t be a member of the club now; nobody’s going to teach me the secret Mark Levin handshake because I’d heard of Trump before I’d heard of Mark Levin. Oh well. I guess reading up on people and looking at them objectively isn’t good enough.

First, let me remind you, FR is a conservative website.

You have embarrassed yourself with your silly essay trying to create a moral equivalency between Levin and Trump, when you've admitted you know little about Levin. Levin has solid lifelong conservative credentials as far back as serving under Ed Meese in the Reagan administration. He has the Landmark Legal Foundation which, among other things, annoys the hell out of the NEA. And since he was a child, has been obsessed with the Constitution. I'm sure if you're truly interested, you can get more information on him by googling.

However, looking into Trumps past reveals a history of financial support for some of conservative's worst enemies. And no conservative track record.

The only way we know he is a conservative, is because he says so. But as long as he spouts Farahisms, birthers ignore all the available evidence to the contrary, and declare him a conservative.

Levin has practiced his conservative preaching his entire life, Trump went out and bought a Reagan Halloween costume.

Why don’t you direct that post to the owner of this website and see what he thinks about it.

I’m so glad we have all these constitutional lawyers around. We are really going to need them when tyranny comes.

I mean imagine if we had someone usurping the Presidency those constitutional scholars would come in real handy-dandy.
They’d be there right quick. Yes-siree-bob, right quick.

“First, let me remind you, FR is a conservative website.”

Thanks for the news.

“You have embarrassed yourself with your silly essay trying to create a moral equivalency between Levin and Trump, when you’ve admitted you know little about Levin.”

You’ve embarrassed yourself by misreading what I wrote and asserting false assumptions from that. I volunteered that I only knew of Levin from here, from transcripts posted, and from the civility, or lack of, and general tone of his supporters and detractors, who are on a supposedly conservative site. I admitted nothing. Please re-read what I wrote, and to whom, and see for yourself.

“Levin has solid lifelong conservative credentials as far back as serving under Ed Meese in the Reagan administration.”

Didn’t Arlen Specter have lifelong conservative credentials, until he became a Democrat? Good for Levin. I commented on the way he’s talking now, and I prefaced it with the limits of my knowledge of him.

“However, looking into Trumps past reveals a history of financial support for some of conservative’s worst enemies. And no conservative track record.”

I’ve stated above that I think some criticism of Trump is valid and a concern of mine as well, including his financial support of people that hate us. Business is business, especially in places like New York, Chicago, Miami, Hollywood. How much does it excuse? You’d have to know about doing business in these places. I only know about New York, and from what I’ve heard about the other places. Other posts on here better address his conservative track record than I could, so I’d refer you to those if you want to actually listen to a rebuttal and not just make what seem to be intended as conversation-ending statements.

“But as long as he spouts Farahisms, birthers ignore all the available evidence to the contrary, and declare him a conservative.”

I don’t know what a Farahism means, but I’m not familiar with questions qualifying as something that can be spouted. Assertions, yes, those can be spouted. You seem to be familiar with these already. But Trump is asking questions that should have already had answers long ago. And if you’re not for that, then you’re not for the entirety of the Constitution and I then have questions about your conservatism, and the conservatism of Mark Levin’s you’ve picked out on my post to comment on, in such a friendly manner, fellow ostensible conservative.

“Levin has practiced his conservative preaching his entire life, Trump went out and bought a Reagan Halloween costume.”

This is a nice rhetorical flourish, if nothing else. Sure, Trump seems to be coming out of nowhere politically, both to you, and to me. It’s something he should answer questions on if he wants people to seriously consider him. I don’t need preaching on conservatism. Maybe that’s why I’ve never made the time to go beyond transcripts of Levin. I wouldn’t have said that’s what he was doing, but if that’s what you’re saying he does, I’ll give him wide berth. Forewarned. If you like being preached to about conservatism, I in no know way meant to detract from the pleasure you get from that with what I’ve written here.

Didn’t Arlen Specter have lifelong conservative credentials...?

No, he didn't.

But it doesn't surprise me you would comment on someone else you know nothing about.

Well, that’s great if it’s the only thing in all I wrote you wanted to take issue with, him a Republican all that time, too. That was easier than I thought. Have a nice night. Enjoy your Mark Levin.

Specter had a 47% ACU lifetime rating...worse than the Maine Sisters.

Conservative politics seems new to you.

I didn’t comment on anything else because there was very little actual content. But lots of words...well constructed sentences...paragraphs...good spelling.

I didn’t expect you to get lost in the words and punctuation or caught up in the question of Arlen Specter as an illustrative example. But all is well. What you’ve basically been saying is something like the Levin assertion of someone being an airhead. What would the response be anyway, ‘no, I’m not an airhead’? Forgive me for trying to make a conversation beyond that with your unsolicited response to my post. I’ll know better now than to try to find something serious in what you write.

Dump on Bachmann for what reason? He loves Michele Bachmann. He loves Sarah Palin. It's shocking to see so many Freepers dump on him for exposing a liberal like The Donald. Sometimes I think the name of this site needs to be changed from Free Republic to Birther Central.
