For the first time, Rep. Michele Bachmann – who is actively considering a run for the White House in 2012 -- has said that the birth certificate President Obama has released to the public puts an end to the "birther" issue. It came when I showed her the copy of the Certificate of Live Birth published on FactCheck.org.
It happened this morning on “GMA.” Here’s the key exchange:
Stephanopoulos: Last night you were on Fox News suggesting the president should come forward with his birth certificate as well --
Bachmann: Well, what I have said about that is, I was asked a question about that and Republicans are constantly asked to vouch for the authenticity of the birth certificate. The only one who can is the clerk of court in the county where someone is born and that’s where people should go. Don’t ask Republicans, go ask the clerk of court.

I watched the exchange on GMA this morning. This is a word for word transcription fo the exchange.
The COLB is recognized as sufficient legal proof. We know it’s based on BS, but unless either the original long form BC is dislodged or other proof is found, we’re stuck with a piece of paper vouching for it’s own legal sufficiency. It’s certified, it’s notarized, it’s embossed. It’s crap, but it’s a notarized, certified, embossed rose under the law of HI.
I just thought of this. You know what Obama and his certificaTION of birth is like?
It’s like a guy trying to rob you by putting his hands in his pocket and pointing a finger at you like he has a gun.
“Show me the gun.” You say. To which he replies: “You better believe I got a gun in here! I’ll shoot you if you don’t do as I say! I’m not going to pull it out, but there REALLY is a gun in my pocket! “
Then there are people who says: “Better do as he says! That’s a REAL gun he has! I Know because only a REAL gun would make a shape like that!”
He must really think we’re stupid. On the other hand, some of us really are.

I happen to notice you actually didn't give that piece of paper to Michelle to review. How about posting it online so we can all see it and close this subject out once and for all.

My question is, so, what happens if its discovered that he isn’t a NBC? It doesn’t do anything to help us with the remaining 2 years of his “presidency.”
Mark Levin made a few good points about this issue last night. He said the courts can’t remove a sitting president. Its up to Congress, and we all know how this would turn out. No one in Congress will vote to impeach him, so, this probably is a dead issue for now.
I don’t know where he was born, or his real name. However, I have faith that it will all come out in due time. Probably not as soon as we’d all like.
Meanwhile, our country is going to hell in a hand basket. We are in a crisis situation and I have to agree with Mark - we need to focus on 2012 and getting the usurper out of office.
It appears she has been compromised. God help us all, Satan is very powerful in this world.
She was intimidated by stephie pure and simple. If she can not stand up to the press she is not qualified to be President. I’m no Trump fan, but at least he is not intimidated by the press.
I do know. We just have to come to grips with the fact that HI certifies his citizenship. The only valid point, short of proof we don’t have, is his father was a British subject.
God, I wish these stupid politicians would educate themselves on this issue before they run their mouths.
The state I live in "Certifies" that the name I go by is the name I was born with. Since I am adopted, this is an absolute lie, but I have a birth certificate which says so, so it must be true right?
The fact is, without seeing the ORIGINAL birth certificate, you don't know if Hawaii is telling the truth or not. They will simply repeat whatever has been entered into the record even if it is not true.
What makes anyone think Obama's birth certificate has been amended? How about the missing 11th document in Stanley Ann Dunham's divorce decree? Most divorces involving adopted minor children include court ordered amendments to the minor child's birth certificate, but the state will routinely refuse to disclose this information.
I don’t think it closes the Birther issue, but it certainly closes the Michele Bachmann issue for me.
The DPH is the Democrat Party authority in Hawaii in charge of requesting, reviewing and verifying the legal qualifications of a candidate’s eligibility for inclusion on the Hawaiian ballot, in compliance with state and Constitutional election laws.
Ultimately, the DPH’s rejection of Obama was due to a refusal by Obama to make available the original documented evidence confirming his eligibility. However, this justifiable lack of certification by the DPH was followed by a covert attempt by the Democratic National Committee, chaired by Nancy Pelosi, to artificially proclaim Obama eligible in Hawaii by submitting two separate, sworn Official Certifications of Nomination (OCON) for Obama, each containing different legal language
I have to agree. I liked her till now. Now I think she’s just as ignorant as most people are about Article II “Natural born citizen” status.
But not the circumstances of birth. The devil is in the details.
Bachmann is a tax attorney and she knows very well that “introduce” is shorthand for “introduce into evidence in a court under the rules of evidence”.
Bachmann knows that when the closeup of the COLB (allegedly) waived under her nose says this certificate is “prima facie evidence” in court, that also means it can be challenged under the rules of evidence as well.
She was presented with a GIGO assumption that the COLB would meet the requirements of a hypothetical “birther” bill in an unnamed state and she appropriately said, IMO, given that assumption, then “fine that would settle it” insofar as meeting such a hypothetical.
She is a trained witness and she was responding to the literal hypothetical question of the host.
The COLB does NOT, of course, actually comply with the AZ bill and it has never been “introduced” into evidence.
Bachmann replied, "Well, then that should settle it."
"So it’s over?" the host asked.
"That’s what should settle it," she said. "I take the president at his word and I think — again I would have no problem and apparently the president wouldn’t either. Introduce that, we’re done. Move on."

I hate to quibble, but it is not a certificaTE. It is a certificaTION. It is not the record itself, it is a attestation that there IS a record.
This is precisely the problem, in my opinion. Obama has constructed a creation myth so as to hide the Dunhams' multi-generational carnal relationship with Davis, but the myth was sloppily constructed and can be construed as barring Obama from the Presidency. He's now caught in his lie with no way out.
