So, Democrats are in part to blame for not making that populist spirit a progressive one
and have suffered as a result.
What a delusional load of crap. The democrats are the very thing that caused the tea party.

Did the author of this drivel actually get paid for writing this crap?

There were no lessons learned from shutting down the gub'mnt in the 90s ~ mostly because most of it wasn't shut down.
Postal Service and Department of Defense folks all had to work.
I know. I was there.
It was mostly fake BS ~ and Bill Clinton used it as an excuse to hole up with the "interns" in the Oval Office ~ and then have lots of sex. He scored big time with this one chubby gal who twanged her thong in his direction.
So, see, that "shutdown" was really ALL ABOUT SEX, or whatever passes for sex in the Clintonista crowd.
Certainly the writer didn't think that wouldn't be present this time?

You're in the midst of your Terrible Twos -- screaming up a storm, being finicky about what you eat, rebelling during nap-time and driving your babysitters crazy. American citizens are children to be managed by media and political elite "babysitters". /s

The dummass really thinks that the GOP leadership LIKES the Tea Party instead of opposing it.

The Left got Punk’d
Gitmo .. Open
Debt .. Gargantuan
yet they rag on the TEA Party as the economy prepares to tank..
and the media doesn’t miss a beat covering for their own ineptness at supporting insanity in Gubamint.

I think this num-nut of a writer is confusing 'populist' with conservatives....but if so then the writer is also admitting that the conservative train is gaining steam.
The fact of the matter is that anyone that is standing in the way of the Conservative Train's Constitutional based political engine will be just like a cow standing on the tracks.....it won't be pretty. R or D won't matter...hamburger is hamburger.

The democrats are the very thing that caused the tea party. False. I always knew the left wanted to take my money and grow the government. I was there on April 15 2009 because of George W. Bush's unconstitutional stimulus. And there isn't a libertarian cell in my body (which is why I eventually stopped going to them).
