Over the past five years, he has authored a history of New York City's playgrounds entitled Grounds for Play, produced an award-winning documentary on youth civic engagement, and worked in the office of U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Justin is a resident of Hell's Kitchen.
Throw in for his oppressed brethren in fly-over country. Fifty years ago, Hell's Kitchen was a ghetto for Irish poor people. It's proximity to Midtown (and the fact that that they were being priced out elsewhere) led to its being discovered by low-income types in the gay community (especially lesbians). It is now referred to by its original name: Clinton (I am not making that up). It is quite safe, and quite trendy. It is were people from the East Village used to move before Brooklyn started becoming gentrified. The gritty Hell's Kitchen of "West Side Story," and "State Of Grace" was completely gone in the early 1990's, though the reputation is still worth something to people who live in Billings, Montana and voted for Dukakis.
