Frontline’s next exposé focuses on the “decades of abuse of Native Americans by priests and other church workers in Alaska,” and in one particular town they find, “nearly 80% of the town’s children were molested” by Catholic priests.
As we reported on this story just a few weeks ago, the Roman Catholic Church, as part of ongoing lawsuits, will make payments to approximately 700 male and female sexual and psychological abuse, molestation, and rape victims who were living in Alaska Native villages and Indian reservations from Montana to Washington, Idaho and Oregon, and who were “sexually or psychologically abused as children by Jesuit missionaries in those states in the 1940s through the 1990s,” according to a statement by attorneys.
The latest agreement will financially compensate 524 victims with $166.1 million in cases including accusations against 140 Jesuit priests, brothers, and nuns from the Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus, in the Pacific Northwest. Only $48 million will come from the Catholic Church, the remainder will be paid by its insurance companies.
None of the Jesuit priests are being charged with any crime related to this abuse, rape, and molestation settlement.

So, the Bishop has gone up to apologize to victims on behalf of the church. Sounds to me like the church admits what happened. The courts found that it happened. The victims know it happened, but you and buccaneer have some special knowledge that it didn’t.

And the sinners include not just the church hierarchy, but also attorneys who ill-advised parents not to buck the system and take on the Catholic Church, or may even have provided inside information to thwart legitimate cases against the church, law enforcement officials who may have thought it best to warn church officials of pending investigations, and janitors, housekeepers, teachers, and employees of the Catholic Church who kept silent because of concerns about a paycheck, a 401K, a pension, or a fear of standing up to church authorities.
God has a place for everyone — and if you abuse children or protect the abusers of children, we can only hope that your place is called Hell.

Oh for crying outloud...just go do a search on this news and you'll see not only other news agencies refering to Frontline and PBS but other sources are reporting this happening as well. This tactic of defaming the source and the poster is as old as the hills on FR when it comes to trying to coverup for any news of the Priests abuse of children. Sheesh! Buccaneer, it's well know worldwide and on the worldwide news!

It's absolutely unconscionable that the world should do a better job in the moral arena of prosecuting pedophiles who come to their attention than the Catholic church, which claims the moral high ground. The world should not be setting the example for the church to follow. The RCC claims to have its authority from God and the world doesn't even have the moral underpinnings to establish an absolute moral guideline and they're doing a better job in this area than the Catholic church.
The Catholic church stands condemned when showed up morally by an immoral, or amoral, world system.

I wanna know whether the poster doesn’t check where she posts from or knowingly posts from a gay blog.
Of course certain posts are ignored when the intent is so obvious....why not just give it up and address the issue of Priests sexually abusing hundreds of children on a worldwide basis and the failure of the church to prosecute those who are to blame.
You knee-jerk come to the defense of gay rapists, simply because you share their faith. And then you smear those who denounce homosexual rape.
Look at yourself. Why are you defending wrong-doers, and attacking those who oppose wrong? Is your denomination so fragile that you must come to its defense, even if that means slandering victims and taking the side of rapists?
