It's a fool's errand to use traditional indicators as definitive evidence that Sarah Palin is or is not running for president. If nothing else, she's made clear since her national debut two-and-a-half years ago that she plays by her own set of rules.
But her pugnacious speech over the weekend in Wisconsin, promotion thereof and re-launch of her PAC's website today, suggests that she very much wants to stay in the political conversation. As has been well-documented, Palin reads most everything written about her. So she surely didn't miss recent stories about her declining poll numbers and relative quiet. For one who relishes the fight, and the attention that comes with it, there is something far worse than being criticized and that's being ignored or written off.
After the last three days, that's not likely to happen again.

A pagan ritual like this with a witch-doctor type does not enhance Sarah’s reputation. Invoking the name of our Lord Jesus does not change the nature of this nonsense.
I pray that she admits to some emotional distress at the time and walks away from this.

Well, if she does get to the general, I expect the Muthee Blessing to come forward again and be rebutted again. First, while it is arguable that Kenyan preacher Muthee (what’s the deal with Kenya, anyway?) is not in the mainstream of Christian belief, and that he may have been involved in some crazy mischief back in Kenya, there is no reasonable case to be made that he is a “Witch-doctor” type in the sense of being pagan.
You can argue he is heretical, but to be pagan one must adopt at least some obviously pagan ideas and practices, and praying over a local politician in hopes that God will use them to increase righteousness in the nation is not a pagan sentiment. Indeed, the left flipped out over it because to them, what they heard was a threat of distinctly Christian theocracy, which of course was also a mistake on their part, but the dead opposite of what you are saying.
For evidence, I offer the exacts words of Muthee’s prayer over Palin, shown below, which do not betray any obvious paganism per se, though for the sophisticated theologian there are hints of the Word of Faith paradigm and a strong aroma of postmillennial triumphalism, which many Christians, including myself, reject as poor interpretation of Scripture (though I do not reject the idea that Christians should be salt and light in every walk of life, as God calls them, per Calvin):
“Thank you, Jesus. Let’s all pray. Let’s pray for Sarah. Hallelujah! Come on, hold your hands up and raise them. Hold them and raise them up here! Come on, talk to God about this woman! Come on, talk to God about this woman we declare favor from today. We say favor, favor, favor! We say praise my God! We say grace to be rained upon her in the name of Jesus. My God, you make your judgment, you make room. You make ways in the desert, and I’m asking you today, we are asking you as the body of Christ in this valley, make a way for Sarah, even in the [inaudible]. Make her way my God. Bring finances her way, even in the campaign in the name of Jesus, and above all give her the personnel, give her men and women that will back her up in the name of Jesus. We want righteousness in this state. We want righteousness in this nation. Because you say [inaudible] in the name of Jesus. Our Father, use her to turn this nation the other way around. Use her to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to the fathers so that the curse that has been there long can be broken. In the name of Jesus. Father, we thank you today. We come in the hindrance of the enemy, standing in her way to there. In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus! Every form of witchcraft, it will be rebuked in the name of Jesus. Father, make her way now. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
So, unless you are expecting her to write a treatise on the theological errors of the remnants of the Latter Rain movement as they appeared in the sermon and prayer of a visiting minister from Kenya, I do not see that she has anything to repent of. Indeed, considering who she is up against, seeking God’s intervention against profound spiritual evil seems highly appropriate. I have often thought that the foaming mouth railing against her went so wildly beyond rational precisely because it had it’s origins in the darkest recesses of Hell.
And as we know from Scripture, a prophet does not have to be a good prophet speaking from good motives to issue a blessing to one chosen by God for a special purpose. I refer you, of course, to Baalim, who would have cursed Israel if he’d had his own way but God wrung a blessing out of him despite himself.
Bottom line, if you have trouble with Sarah over Muthee, the problem is mainly Muthee, not Sarah. I have also heard, but have not yet been able to confirm, that her church affiliation has changed. Based on what we know about her, she is soundly Christian, if not a seminary theologian, and has the good sense to put her faith in Jesus and let the “professionals” duke it out over the fine points of prophetic speculation.

This was just another Journ-o-list/Republican Cocktail Party meme , intended to convince “somebody” that she has faded and is not interested in running for President.
Be aware of this weeks new meme: She has a bad voice! It started here last night and was repeated verbatim by Kirstin Powers earlier today. I think the bottom of the barrel has been scraped.
Yeah, the PDS'ers sure know how to feed the libs. Concerning her voice, I like to point out that Abraham Lincoln's was shrill and tinny, with a hick accent.
Au contraire, my Friend. I’ve attended Assembly of God churches many times. I did eventually quit and go back to my Baptist roots, but the years of my fellowship among them were mostly a positive experience. I understand and do not want to get tangled up in a prolonged discussion about whether the gifts have ceased, but I don’t see any Scripture that creates an absolute barrier to modern works of the Holy Spirit that would resemble those of the early Church.
OTOH, the reason I quit this church, among other reasons, is that A) tongues was being “taught” in classes (utter nonsense, if you’ll pardon the pun) and B) while many of the purported prophetic utterances were wholesome, Biblically sound encouragements, others drifted off into obvious error and were not being corrected by church leadership.
See, to me, as an attorney and a Christian, that’s bad, but it’s a far cry from the charge of paganism, which I regard as a serious and specific charge that requires specific and credible evidence. Paganism is an identifiable set of theological beliefs and is accompanied by practices that support those beliefs. Some of those practices have abandoned their pagan roots and been grafted into Christian practice, such as Christmas trees. Other practices actually occurred in both a pagan and a Christian setting, such as tongues, and as a result have an entirely different meaning and mode of operation for Christians.
So, unless you can show me anything in Muthee’s prayer that gives credence to pagan deities, or pagan monism, or at least something that has zero basis in New Testament teaching, then I have to consider the case unproven. I think hard-core Word of Faith teaching is provable error, and that you can trace it, with some effort, to a pagan theory of monism. But that is not evident in or obvious to most folks who attend these groups. They are, or were when I was going, basically just Baptists who believe God can and still does the miraculous among His people if they invite Him to do so. I have nothing against them for believing that, but I do wish they would do the discipline that goes along with that, using Scripture to defend against the encroachment of error. Like Paul, I would rather know what everyone was saying than have to worry whether a given tongues-speaker was God-impelled or self-propelled.
Therefore, in general, I’ve concluded that while some incidents here and there do bear the marks of the truly miraculous, most of what goes on in these fellowships is driven, not by the incursion of an insidious paganism, but by the desire to be as much like the early church as possible, even if they have to do a little pretending to make it so. I don’t think the pretending is harmless, but many of them were and are excellent people, with whom I would gladly share a fox hole in battle, and who would give the shirt off their back to make your life and mine better. So writing them all off in a single stroke is not as straightforward for me as it apparently is for you.
