” Fidel will certainly be our new Presidential Speechwriter. “
I worry that those five hour jobs will burn out the TOTUS! Interesting image: TOTUS going up in smoke at the back of the room while the P(uppet)OTUS writhes in front, whining, “I’m melting...melting...O what a World!”....
LOL That’s awesome! LOVE that video clip!
Can we have a cigar now?
Yeah. I like ‘em kinda mild though cause I’m a rookie. :)
yeah, stepped down like pootie-poot putin.
Too bad that step down wasn’t from a 100-foot cliff.
When is this old murderer ever going to go to his final reward?
What a laugh riot. Perfect pratfall. Hard to believe it was, in fact, an accident. Castro should, as the say in Miami Beach, “watch ya step.”
Great minds think alike.
“Restoration for the vehicles and wealth for the owners. Those cars are the closest thing to hard currency that Cuba has.”
You ain’t kiddin. Those Cubanos will be able to buy a whole boatload of Fidel’s Revolutionary Rice Cookers with the moola they get.
Was it a pig and a goat?
I couldn’t remember, I just know it was funny as hell.
Churchy La Femme. Mam’selle Hepzibah. Albert. Howland Owl. No comic artist ever made me laugh like Walt Kelly. And those strips hold up, they’re just as funny today as the day he drew them.
Damun he can still walk? Bet he and commie killah Chavez Taught pres___ent how to use SCUBA equipment with head buried up sigmoid colon.
I still think Castro has beed dead, stuffed, motorized, and put on wheels for some time now. Same with the little nutcase in N. Korea.
It is almost impossible to keep information out of people’s hands in the internet age, so perhaps these dictators are getting nervous seeing all the protests in other countries. I am amazed they have been able to hold onto power this long.
I was three when he died, but my folks already had several of his books, and once I got hooked, they bought more. Some of the deeper satire, which was contextual to the time, did go over my head too, but I got some of it, and of course enjoyed the stuff that was just plain silly. He ruined me for pretty much all other comics though. Damn that man could draw.
You gotta admit though, he was getting brittle before he died. Like his blood brother Al Capp of “Li’l Abner” fame before he bowed out. His humor had evaporated towards the end and he was getting just plain nasty at times. I remember the way he depicted LBJ, Nixon and Agnew. Not funny, just crude and angry.
By the early seventies the torch had been passed to Gary Trudeau (”Doonesbury”). Doonesbury could be sublime in it’s treatment of the Watergate Follies but Trudeau went off the rails with his hatred of Reagan and never made it back. Berke Breathed (”Bloom County”) picked up the gauntlet in the early eighties.
I also recall checking out Herblock collections from the library as a kid. That guy never even TRIED to be funny! Although at his death everybody who worked with him said he was a delight to know.
Never could make much sense of his poetic efforts, though.
Something is known, but generally the diagnosis ought to stay between the patient and the doctor. Today it hardly matters - he is old now and frail; nearly anything can push him over the line, overnight.
