The Donald is not a conservative BUT..
April 17 - 2011 | Myself

I vigorously support his presence in the GOP primaries.

1. He is raising the birth certificate issue and giving em hell. So far I like it.

2. He is an aggressive candidate and not afraid to throw any kind of punches at Obama. If it is there to be attacked, Trump so far is not hesitating to attack it. Perhaps that kind of no holds barred attitude will catch on with at least some of the rest of the GOP field

3. Third and MOST IMPORTANT reason. Trump might end up doing hefty damage to Mitt Romney's campaign. That is if he keeps polling these same kind of polling numbers. Romney and the rest of the RINOs drink from the same trough. The more such jokers there are, the more the votes get split

Here's another important one for me: NEVER HELD ELECTED OFFICE.

But he still does have executive experience, something Senators don't have. That's why both 2008 candidates, McLame and the Usurper were so horrible.

Interesting comments.

have not thought about the causing damage to the Romney campaign, but it makes sense

Trump is the biggest threat to the Karl Rove/Liberal RINO wing of the party...the one that wants to git along with Obama....not ask about the Birth Certificate

Whatever people think of Trump....he has sure exposed the Liberalness of many in the GOP and talk radio. And, the GOP better get with the base on the Obama Birth Certificate

Perot was there in both 92 and 96. More votes for Perot in 92.

I doubt whether Trump is a true conservative. But I think of Trump as a convenient battering ram. There is something in it for everyone. He wants the self promotion and publicity. I want someone to knock the guy in the oval office around. Works for me.Just so long as when he gets tired of running he drops out for good and does not hang around as an independent to siphon votes away from the Republican general election candidate. Kind of like hockey. You do not want your goon squad on the ice while you are trying to score.

2012 scares me. As usual, the democrats are ripe for being swept out of the office and all the GOP can offer up is Romney, Palin and Trump. Two have shown themselves to be unelectable and one bankrupts casinos.

If you read the article, Soros says that he has lost confidence in Obama because he is not longer effective in implementing Soros’ world vision for America. Soros does not love America.

i totally agree. i don’t trust him— but hopefully by leading in the polls he will force romney, pawlenty, etc. to be more aggressive against obama.

The Romney Camp is getting jittery. Notice the knee-jerk interview Romney gave, blasting Trump on Kudlow for raising the birth certificate issue. Romney knows that if Trump does decides to run, Trump will peel votes away from Romney

Donald is a breath of fresh air injected into the normal blah blah blah of the normal PC talking Repub candidates. He is not afraid to jump in the middle of any topic, take off the gloves and start swinging.

I agree with JosephSmithNAW that Trump has put Mittens firmly in his place. Compare Trump to Romney and Trump comes away head and shoulders above.

I like Donald because he is not a politician. I know he can come across as flaky on some things but in the long run people of all stripes like him. Even though he is rich and lives in a world that is far different from most of America he has a folksy way about him that could draw a lot of Independents and Democrats. He has an advantage because of his name recognition. At the very least he has certainly spiced up the Republican field.

Exactly, Trump can take out Obama and Romney, and it that clears the path for someone other than Trump, then it’s all good.

In fact, in the end, the biggest benefactor of Trump may very well be Palin.

The Donald gives as good as he gets. Whatever else one might say about him, I’ll give him that

2012 worries me too but not for the reasons you stated but for the absolute blindness of the electorate.

Because he has too much baggage now. Soros may believe tempers have softened regarding Hillary; but they haven’t. She is a cheat, liar and thief as always. She should have been thrown in jail just as her husband. Bill, the rapist.

Clinton works for Soros and Riadi which spell destruction of America.

Trump may be Perot the Second and he may even be supported by Perot too; but he is saying and exposing what needs to be.

You don’t have to vote for him.

I agree with you. Trump is saying the things that many of us want to say and that politicians won’t. He’s performing a valuable service in stimulating the conversation and turning up the heat where it’s needed.

I think Romney knows he has a major problem with Trump running. Trump has gone to the right of him (Obama Birth, Commie China) yet Romney really cannot raise the “Trump is a Liberal” issue so many are trying to do here on FR....Romney is pretty left himself

The enemy fears the awakening spirit of America. Trump is a scheme to split the focus of America and keep the scheming one world order moguls in power. Soros is their point dog..

Romney is now trying to play the ‘Elder Statesman’ role and trying to keep his herd intact.

Can we drop the “Soros supports Trump” nonsense....you have no proof

Soros gave money to McCain for years, and McCain was the 2008 GOP nominee. You Obama Supporters who are going Alinsky on Trump seem to overlook that....oh, wait, you voted for McCain

Three darn good reasons.

Trump is the armor and artillery for the Palin infantry:)

He's clearing the way of entrenched democrat forces AND gutless republicans.

If given a choice between ONLY Romney or Trump...there's not 10 people on FR that would choose Romney.

That's the sad state of the GOP today.
