It sounds to me like sudden jihad syndrome. You know, there is a lot of pretense that it doesn’t happen here very much, but I think we suffer SJS a lot, and it doesn’t impact as much because we have so many more people. It’s all a result of the culture of permissiveness I think. THAT is what needs to be changed.
The one factor weighing against “sudden jihad syndrome” in this case is that there were two perpetrators, not one — and it wasn’t a case of some weird Islamic man-boy relationship like you saw here in the U.S. with the D.C. snipers a few years ago.
