This afternoon, Marilyn Davenport sent an email to fellow Orange County Republican elected officials, apologized if anyone was offended and blasted the "liberal media" for reporting the story.
"I simply found it amusing regarding the character of [President Barack] Obama and all the questions surrounding his origin of birth," Davenport wrote. "In no way did I even consider the fact he's half black when I sent out the email. In fact, the thought never entered my mind until one or two other people [Scott Baugh, Orange County GOP boss and Moxley] tried to make this about race . . . I received plenty of emails about George Bush that I didn't particularly like yet there was no 'cry' in the media about them . . . That being said, I will NOT resign my central committee position over this matter that the average person knows and agrees is much to do about nothing."

Besides, aren't we all supposedly descended from apes anyway, as the left likes to tell us?
You could say that!
Yes, I know. I’m just saying, what’s the big deal, if we take the liberal tack and point out that humans evolved from apes, according to them. Then it shouldn’t bother them to compare anyone to a monkey or primate.
I would never say that. I like apes.
That’s unfortunate and shouldn’t be tolerated, but Democrats say crap about conservatives all the time and never get called on it.
We would be racist if we didn’t post pictures of Obama as a monkey.
Since LBJ every single president has been depicted as a chimp or monkey.
To ignore this modern phenomenon we would be derelict of our duties to ridicule presiding presidents of this well deserved honor.
And that would be racist.
The picture is disgusting.
Exactly like that.
Thought I would start with who was credited for broking the piece on Obama..
Sorry: “breaking” = tied eyes - contacts
The Far Left is always calling the Right racist..this just feeds into their quest to repeat the same old tired rhetoric in order to divide, grab votes with Obama kicking off his campaign. It goes along with Republicans "killing old people, children and women"...oh.. and my favorite: Republicans are Nazis.
The OC's Republican Davenport should have used more sense than to push SEND: Even if a set up, she fell for it.
The picture is obviously a fake.
Everyone knows Obama’s mother and putative father, Barak Obama, Sr., were never within a thousand miles of each other from the time he was born.
Unless that is Frank Davis or Malcolm X in the picture.
Hmmm......
No one forced this dimwit to forward it. I very rarely forward emails to my email list. Anything I forward has been read word for word before sending. I don't want to waste people's forwarding senseless crap.
Nonetheless, it's a stretch to call the picture "racist", because one of the three individuals satirized as apes is white. Plus, as pointed out in this thread, quite a number of white politicians, going back at least as far as Abraham Lincoln and as recent as George W. Bush, have been depicted as apes by satirists without any charges of racism or bigotry against the creators of such images.
Call this current controversy a tempest in a tea pot.
Thanks for the ping!
