Obviously the private email under discussion got into the hands of someone who should never have seen it, who ratted to the lefty media. Since this is imagined to fit the left's "birthers are racists" template, the media is having their "feeding frenzy" with it, painting this minor GOP official as a racist. Mrs. Davenport apparently should have been more scrupulous about vetting her email list.

Nonetheless, it's a stretch to call the picture "racist", because one of the three individuals satirized as apes is white. Plus, as pointed out in this thread, quite a number of white politicians, going back at least as far as Abraham Lincoln and as recent as George W. Bush, have been depicted as apes by satirists without any charges of racism or bigotry against the creators of such images.

Call this current controversy a tempest in a tea pot.
