Orange County Republicans have censured an official who sent an email that included President Obama's face superimposed on that of a chimpanzee with the words "Now you know why - No birth certificate!" County GOP Chairman Scott Baugh has called for Davenport to resign, something she has refused to do. Baugh had said the email was "dripping with racism and is in very poor taste."

A member of the Tea Party has sent a racist email with a picture of Barack Obama and his parents as chimpanzees, it has been revealed. This afternoon, Marilyn Davenport sent an email to fellow Orange County Republican elected officials, apologized if anyone was offended and blasted the "liberal media" for reporting the story. "I simply found it amusing regarding the character of [President Barack] Obama and all the questions surrounding his origin of birth," Davenport wrote. "In no way did I even consider the fact he's half black when I sent out the email.
